Velinga is a small village of 315 hectares in Ponda Tehsil in North Goa district, known and rated to have the best quality of life in India (based on the commission’s “12 Indicators”)[2] in the state of Goa, India.[3] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Velinga depends on PONDA, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[4] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, One tank, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and One spring. Velinga is also near by One lake. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tap. Velinga's pin code is 403404[5], and village code is 00020100. The area of Velinga is segregated as 64.26 hectares irrigated area, 112.99 hectares unirrigated, the 47.78 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 89.86 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Velinga is a census village in the district of North Goa, Goa. The village has a total population of 1921 and has total administration over 444 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.
As per the census 2011 report, 1579 people are literate in Velinga out of which 858 are males and 721 are females.

According to a census 2011 report, 838 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 560 male, 278 female with 739 (88.19%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 511 males and 228 females. 47 males and 15 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 14 male and 8 female agricultural labor. 99 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.
They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of PONDA and North Goa to sell pineapple and make their living.
