Four of the nine at-large seats on the Chesapeake Public Schools school board were up for general election on May 3, 2016. Incumbents Samuel Boone, Charles Bunn, Tom Mercer and Victoria Proffitt defeated challenger Donna Parker to win re-election to their four seats.[1]

Chesapeake Public Schools is located in southeastern Virginia in Chesapeake. According to the United States Census Bureau, Chesapeake was home to 233,371 residents in 2014.[4] The district was the seventh-largest school district in the state in the 2013–2014 school year and served 39,737 students.[5]
