A Wayne County Community College District Levy proposal was on the November 6, 2012 election ballot in Wayne County, which is in Michigan, where the vote was too close to call.
If approved, this proposal would have authorized the Wayne County Community College District to levy a property tax of 1 mill ($1 per $1,000 of assessed valuation) for 10 years in order to fund general operation purposes. The estimated first year revenue from this tax is $21,746,964.[1]

Language on the ballot:
| “ | Shall the limitation on the amount of taxes which may be imposed on taxable property in the Wayne County Community College District be increased by one dollar per thousand dollars (1 mill) of the taxable value of all taxable property in the College District for a period of ten (10) years, the tax years commencing July 1, 2013, to July 1, 2022, inclusive, as new additional millage to provide funds for community college purposes authorized by law? It is estimated that 1 mill would raise approximately $21,746,964 when first levied in 2013.[1][2] | ” |
