From Conservapedia - Reading time: 1 min

The Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, was a 384 foot tall lighthouse built on the island of Pharos to guide ships into the harbor of Alexandria. It used mirrors to reflect firelight up to 10 kilometers away. It was destroyed in the early fourteenth century AD by a series of earthquakes.[1]
