Scream is both a series of horror movies and the titular first movie in that series. It starred Neve Campbell as a virginal, late-high school girl and later college aged (in the now-cliched style of Jamie Lee Curtis) being stalked by a homicidal psychopath. The thesis of the Scream trilogy was that the stylized violence depicted in Hollywood films and video games has inspired much of the real-life violence that we see in the world today.[1] However, this thesis was somewhat undercut by a scene in the first movie in which the killers (played by Skeet Ulrich and Matthew Lillard) discuss their motives, saying: "It's the millennium. Motives are outdated."
