The Two Towers is the second volume of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, made up of Book III and IV. The title The Two Towers refers to the towers central to the plot in each Book: Isengard's tower Orthanc in Book III, and Minas Morgul in Book IV, both of which are shown on the book cover drawn by Tolkien. Peter Jackson adapted it for in his popular 2002 film.
This part chronicles the battle of Rohan against Isengard. Isengard is defeated due to the members of the fellowship. It foreshadows the final battle against Sauron. It also involves the return of Gandalf in a new more powerful form.
This part follows the journey of Frodo and Sam into Mordor. It also involves the return of Gollum (from The Hobbit) to lead and betray the hobbits. It also includes Boromir's kind brother, Faramir.[1]
