Tiffany Mitchell (born September 23, 1994) is an American professional basketball player for the Connecticut Sun of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She also currently plays for the Galatasaray of the Eurocup and Turkish Basketball Leagues. Mitchell played college basketball for the South Carolina Gamecocks, where she was a two-time SEC Player of the Year. After concluding her collegiate career, she was selected ninth overall in the 2016 WNBA draft by the Indiana Fever. During the WNBA off-seasons, Mitchell has played overseas in Russia, Turkey, Israel and Australia.
Between 2012 and 2016, Mitchell played college basketball for the South Carolina Gamecocks. In 2014 and 2015, she was named the SEC Player of the Year.[1]
Mitchell was selected ninth overall in the 2016 WNBA draft by the Indiana Fever. She scored a game-high 18 points for the Fever in her WNBA debut. She played all 34 games during the 2016 season and averaged 8.6 points per game, earning a place in the WNBA All-Rookie Team.[2] In 2021, she played her sixth season for the Fever.[3]
On January 31, 2024, Mitchell was traded to the Connecticut Sun alongside the 19th pick in the 2024 WNBA draft in exchange for Natisha Hiedeman.
In her first WNBA off-season, Mitchell played for Nadezhda Orenburg of the Russian Women's Basketball Premier League during the 2016–17 season.[4]
Mitchell's next overseas stint came during the 2018–19 season. She started the season in Turkey with Mersin Büyükşehir Belediyespor, later joining OGM Ormanspor in December 2018. She left OGM Ormanspor in January 2019 and in March 2019 joined Elitzur Ramla in Israel.[4]
Mitchell returned to Elitzur Ramla for the 2019–20 and 2020–21 seasons.[4]
For the 2021–22 season, Mitchell moved to Australia to play for the Melbourne Boomers of the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL).[5] The Boomers won the WNBL title in that season, Mitchell scoring 16 points in the deciding game against Perth.[6]
On 19 July 2023, she signed with Galatasaray of the Turkish Women's Basketball Super League (TKBL).[7]
On 30 November 2023, Galatasaray and Mitchell announced that they parted ways by mutual agreement.[8]
In November 2023, Mitchell was announced by Rwandan club REG for the FIBA Africa Women's Basketball League.[9] Mitchell was the top scorer of the league season, after averaging 23.7 points per game on 45.2% shooting from the field and 40.0% from three-point range.[10]
