Barriya is a small village of 150 hectares in Karauli Tehsil in Karauli district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Barriya depends on GANGAPUR CITY, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, which is 54.35% of the total supply, Two tanks, One tubewell, and Two handpumps. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Barriya is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Well. Barriya's pin code is 322255[4], and village code is 01235000. The area of Barriya is segregated as 54.35 hectares irrigated area, 74.85 hectares unirrigated, the 2.86 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 18.06 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Barriya has One post office (Bariya B.O). The village is connected with a single bus service. Barriya has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Barriya is a census village in the district of Karauli, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 1191 and has total administration over 220 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Barriya has 183 children, 111 boys and 72 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 272 (22.84%) males constitute 147 (12.34%) of the population and females 125 (10.50%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 205 (17.21%) males constitute 121 (10.16%) of the population and females 84 (7.05%).

According to a census 2011 report, 485 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 291 male, 194 female with 376 (77.53%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 249 males and 127 females. 134 males and 91 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 18 male and 6 female agricultural labor. 109 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of GANGAPUR CITY and Karauli to sell ghee and make their living.
