Chakhu is a small village of 2785 hectares in Phalodi Tehsil in Jodhpur district, also known as the Blue City in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Chakhu depends on Phalodi, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, Two tanks, One tubewell, and Two handpumps. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Chakhu is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tubewell. Chakhu's pin code is 342307[4], and village code is 01916500. The area of Chakhu is segregated as 2651.27 hectares unirrigated, the 81.95 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 51.64 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Chakhu has One post office (Chakhoo B.O) and One public telephone. The village is connected with a single bus service. Chakhu has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Chakhu is a census village in the district of Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 588 and has total administration over 90 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Chakhu has 136 children, 72 boys and 64 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 77 (13.10%) males constitute 44 (7.48%) of the population and females 33 (5.61%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 67 (11.39%) males constitute 35 (5.95%) of the population and females 32 (5.44%).

The workforce is 140 male, 59 female with 47 (23.62%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 45 males and 2 females. 26 males are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 1 male and 1 female agricultural labor. 152 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Phalodi and Jodhpur to sell balnket and make their living.
