Eduard Grossman (2 November 1946- 1 April 2017) Was an Russian Jewish Painting, artist who immigrated to Israel, where he had lived and worked since then.

Eduard Grossman depicted his own artistic vision by compressing the colors on canvas into the center, creating small color "Island", often contain the silhouette of a animal, ancient structure, calligraphies and letters.

These elements, introduce a colorful image which enables the viewer to go on an inward journey, in trail of the artist imagination.

Biography[edit]

Eduard Grossman was Born in November 2, 1946 Komi Republic, Soviet Union. Grossman’s passion for painting began when he was only 3 years old. I started painting early. I was three years old when I got sick from scarlet fever. My brother and a friend brought me pencils and sketchbook, and I, lying in bed, began to draw. It was interesting! Since then, I have even kept the habit of drawing Lying down". In 1964 at the age of 17 Eduard was enlisted for military service in the ranks of the Soviet army at the city of Sakhalin, where Grossman met his future wife Galina Grossman (Ryzhikh).

Four years later Eduard and Galina got married, later daughter and son were born in the family.

In 1980, Eduard graduated from the Magnitogorsk Institute of art, at the faculty of painting and graphics. Upon graduation, Grossman received a gold medal at the All-Union Exhibition of Diploma works, earned an M.A master’s degree in addition was the director institute of art for the city of Chelyabinsk.

Between the years 1980-1990, Grossman held the post of top artist at the art and design Institute of Chelyabinsk, where he had lived and worked as Chief artist in production and creation of workshops.

At the following years Eduard Grossman Created one of the first design bureaus in the country, together with graphics and illustrated books, wrote and exhibited art works on the topic "Jewish ceremonial art".

In 1987 at the auction of the seasonal bienard painting in Paris France, Eduard presented for the first time a series of levkas art painting about Jerusalem and the history of Jewish diaspora|Galut.

“At that time, at exhibitions I showed paintings on a Jewish theme Kadesh (biblical), Place and other works. Oddly enough In Israel I hardly write about it. And then apparently some kind of internal feeling pushed to Judaica maybe because childhood has passed in the Jewish quarter and maybe because at that time in the first half of the 80s almost all of my friends were Jews".

In the year 1990, Eduard Grossman with his family have immigrated to Israel.

After immigration to israel, during the years 1991-2004 Grossman had lived and worked in the artist's village “Sa-Nur”.

“Artists from all over the former Soviet Union gathered there. to speak, a bohemian life with a "Russian accent" -minimum comfort. A table a chair a cup - everything! And - creativity, work".

At that time Eduard created a cycle of art graphics known as "Song of Songs" and "Tale of Israel". In 1992, Grossman became a member of the Israel Union Artists.

Grossman's art is in collection among major collectors including:

Jacques Chirac who served as President of France and Rudy Giuliani who served as Mayor of New York City. 1995- Eduard presented his first 2 paintings "אוכל טוב בארץ" at Milwaukee Art Museum in (Chicago, USA), participated in charity auctions in Jerusalem and charity events for HIV/AIDS.

1996- Exhibition in Gallery Tevel Art (Toronto, Canada), Gallery Graal (Agen, France) and Kunst Galerie Heppenheim.

1997- Exhibition in Germany, dedicated to convalescence opera singer José Carreras and exhibition in Avantgarde Gallery (Paris, France).

2000- Exhibition in (Berlin ,Germany).

2001- Exhibition in Gallery Graal , Private Exhibitions (New York, Miami, Marseille, Toronto).

2002- Exhibitions in Germany (Frankfurt, Recklinghausen, Düsseldorf).

2003, 2004, 2005- Exhibitions in Gallery Tevel Art, Gallery Graal.

2006- Exhibition in (Bielefeld, Germany).

2007-2008- Exhibitions in Basha Art Gallery (Jerusalem, Israel), Private exhibitions (London, Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Geneva|Geneva).

2009- Exhibitions in Marrache Fine Art Gallery (Jerusalem, Israel), Basha Art Gallery, Private exhibitions (Paris, Lyon, Marseille, New York City|New York, Toronto).
