Kalru is a small village of 1892 hectares in Merta Tehsil in Nagaur district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Kalru depends on Merta City, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, Two Wells supply, One tank, Two tubewells, and Two handpumps. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Kalru is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tanker. Kalru's pin code is 341026[4], and village code is 01833400. The area of Kalru is segregated as 157.05 hectares irrigated area, 1406.6 hectares unirrigated, the 191.16 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 137.25 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Kalru has One post office (Karlu B.O) and Two public telephones. The village is connected with a single bus service. Kalru has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Kalru is a census village in the district of Nagaur, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 2534 and has total administration over 502 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Kalru has 363 children, 187 boys and 176 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 867 (34.21%) males constitute 450 (17.76%) of the population and females 417 (16.46%).

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Merta City and Nagaur to sell iron goodas and make their living.
