Chervinsky is the author of the award-winning book The Cabinet: George Washington and the Creation of an American Institution^[1], which was published by Belknap / Harvard University Press in April 2020 and the co-editor of Mourning the Presidents: Loss and Legacy in American Culture^[2] published by University of Virginia Press in February 2023. Her third book is a political biography of John Adams’s presidency that will be published by Oxford University Press in 2024. Dr. Chervinsky has been published in the Washington Post, TIME, USA Today, CNN.com, The Bulwark, The Wall Street Journal, Washington Monthly, The Daily Beast, and numerous others; she is a regular source on American history for publications like The BBC, Associated Press, Washington Post, New York Times, CBC News, and many more. She has recently appeared on CBS News and CNN.^[3][4] Dr. Chervinsky was a columnist for The Hill and Governing.^[5][6]

Education[edit]

Chervinsky earned her Ph.D. in history from the University of California, Davis in 2017, and completed her B.A. in history and political science from George Washington University (2010).^[5]

Awards and Career[edit]

Chervinsky has worked previously at the George Washington Leadership Institute, the Institute for Thomas Paine Studies and the White House Historical Association. She currently works with the Center for Presidential History as a senior fellow and the George Washington University, School of Media and Public Affairs as a professorial lecturer.

Chervinsky has been awarded the Society of the Cincinnati of New Jersey History Prize and the National Society Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America Golden Shield Award. She is a Kluge Center Fellow at the Library of Congress^[7], a Kundrun Open Rank Fellow at the International Center for Jefferson Studies and a Tyree-Lamp Fellow at the Society of Cincinnati^[8]. Dr. Chervinsky is also a James C. Rees Fellow on the Leadership of George Washington at the Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington.^[8]
