The Alabama Municipal Economic Development, Amendment 2, also known as Amendment 2, was on the ballot in Alabama on December 6, 1966, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment proposed to amend the constitution. The amendment proposed that each city in Geneva County would be authorized to purchase and manipulate all kinds of property for the purpose of promoting the economic development. Each city would be authorized to invest, lend credit or grant public money for such endeavors. Furthermore, they would be authorized to levy and collect an ad valorem tax for the payment of securities. The above economic development must be first approved by a majority of electors.[1]
