The Judicial Update

March 13, 2012

WASHINGTON, District of Columbia: William Kayatta, nominated in January by President Obama to fill Maine's seat on the United States Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit, will get a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee on March 14th.[1] Given the backlog of federal judicial nominations, some legal experts are hopeful that Kayatta's relatively early nomination hearing will result in a speedy confirmation. Kayatta, a trial lawyer, was nominated to fill Kermit Lipez's seat on the court. Both of Maine's Senators, Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, support Kayatta's confirmation.[1]
