An effort to recall all five members of the Cave Creek Unified School District Governing Board did not go to a vote in 2022. The effort failed to qualify for the ballot.[1]
The recall effort began in September 2021. Scott Brown, Janet Busbee, Jeff Fortney, Beth Hatcher, and Brianna Lynn Walker were named in the recall petitions. To get the recalls on the ballot, supporters would have had to submit petitions with 6,646 signatures for each member by January 14, 2022.[2][3]
Busbee won re-election to a four-year term on the board on November 3, 2020. Fortney and Walker were first elected to the board in the same election. The three members received 19%, 18.1%, and 18% of the vote, respectively, in the six-way at-large race. Hatcher and Brown were first elected to four-year terms on the board on November 6, 2018. Hatcher received 41.9% of the vote, and Brown received 34.1% of the vote in the three-way at-large race.
