A Chief Judge of a United States bankruptcy court is the administrative leader of that court. The United States Congress created the position of bankruptcy Chief Judge in order to guarantee that the rules of the bankruptcy court are observed.[1]
Chief Judges are selected by judges of the United States district court in which the bankruptcy court is located. Often, the Chief Judge is recommended by the other judges of the bankruptcy court.
There is no limit for the amount of time a Chief Judge of a bankruptcy court may serve in that position.[1]
