A Columbia County Sheriff Property Tax Increase measure was going to be on the May 17, 2011 ballot in Columbia County but was later removed.

This measure sought to increase the current property tax rate in the county by a rate of $.62 per $1,000 of assessed property value for a period of four years. The money from this tax would go towards paying for the county sheriff officers by adding eight new positions and maintaining current police services. Previous attempts to get more money for the sheriff department have not been approved, officers are hoping to get more support with better awareness of the issue.[1]
