Taxes
I WILL SUPPORT GETTING SOLUTIONS:
On Taxes.
TAXES. TAXES. TAXES.. I get it… it needs to stop. Taxes annoy people.
Fairness. Honesty. Community. These are values that so many of us have grown up with and share. These are now values that our State’s government has lost sight of.
It is now our responsibility and mission, to stand up, join together, and defend those values, in order to turn the state of our State around. We need to roll up our sleeves as a collective community and get to work, because it starts, right here, right now, at home.
Our State's current economy is and has not been working for everyone. With costs of living spiraling out of control and getting higher by the day, government needs to resist the urge to continue to impose more taxes, and our focus needs to be our budget...it needs to be balanced, balanced well, balanced now.
There are several ways I can turn our State finances around, while providing fresh new outsider ideas that many residents have agreed will bring the changes that are needed. With my background in business, not only do I understand a balance sheet, but better yet, I can put more money into your pockets. My economic and development plans will improve the lives of all our residents and will improve our education system to serve every child. No one being left behind, the time has come for a better future, and that time is now, today.
I have a bipartisan-designed plan that can balance our budget, that if coupled with my energy, drive and determination, will work to bring Democrats and Republicans together to breathe new life into our current budget, bring it out of the red, and ultimately offer relief to our residents.
YES Connecticut Governor Dan Malloy has passed the largest tax and budget increases on all of us.
Businesses are closing, companies are moving out and population is decreasing … we have to stop bleeding our State immediately. Both parties must work together as more BI-PARTISAN. It may seem like a wish and a dream, but we CAN make it work, if we actually work together to find solutions.
We need a budget with no raises, no new taxes and no backroom deals. Tax increases are on autopilot and I will look into union contracts back to 1990. Remember I am not an elected official or career politician and don’t have to answer to any deals that got me to the Governor’s Mansion. I don’t have any competition that can say this and actually be held to it.
Your school, your house and your job are all at risk because of the financial commitments in the State budget and 600 million in other taxes hikes. Our State government isn’t working for you they are working for themselves. So together we can stop this.
I am a person that can represent the wealthiest in the State, seniors, the middle class and hard working to even the struggling. The majority of Connecticut voters only want someone to help make their lives better and more secure for themselves and their children. Encourage the change to make Connecticut where you want to move to and start a family that is safe and a choice of many great jobs can be available to you is necessary now the Government needs to be transparent and upfront and be truthful to you and the big picture of our budget woes, but a smart woman like me who isn’t an elected official, being an outsider is a strategy that I Have and the others don’t. I can do this, and will make sure there is a stop of many people voting with their feet and leaving Connecticut.
According to the annual report posted by the State
The Department collected $17.3 billion in state taxes for fiscal year 2015-16.
The Personal Income, Sales and Use and Corporation Business Taxes comprised 83% of all collections.
Taxes:
I would repeal these taxes
Estate & Gift tax, Business Entity Tax, Corporation Business Tax. Public Educational & Gov. Programming Tax.
These taxes above collected 1.1 billion from the people of Connecticut in FY 2015-2016
I would support to increase these tax(s)
Sales and use taxes from 6.35% to 6.99%
Tolls
Transportation Fund (lock box only)
I would only support a toll bill if it only includes the lock box, borders, airports exits and ferry s inbound.( I would also like a Connecticut based business tax credit to businesses transporting over state lines CT only)
Electronic Tolls in 8 towns: 1-95 Greenwich and North Stonington, I-84 Danbury and Union, I395 Thompson , other State entry points at North Canaan, Putnam and Killingly Connecticut. ( Uncasville points of interest towns)
Marijuana Regulation Taxes
Together we can build a new economy, keeping people accountable and giving us all a fair shake at making a better life. Together we can encourage new job growth by providing fewer regulations. Jobs that last as a result of our better business practices. Less taxes for allowing people to grow their businesses in our State. I want our residents to earn a decent wage, and I will support an increase in the minimum wage.
I will lead us to makes this better for everyone in CT. A better path for the people of CT…the income tax should be lowered and the Sales Tax should be raised to 6.999 % to put more money in your hands and allow you the choices to how you wish to spend it. Any school with an endowment of more than $25 billion should pay the higher of either 1% wealth tax or 10% of the returns on the endowments investments. These moneys would go to the State Lock box Education fund, and will be used for education only and if excess for unfunded liabilities. Colleges should invest into the cities and towns of CT that surround them as they are the neighbors that need a helping hand in Connecticut’s economic history.
Voter trust doesn’t come with experience anymore since most people don’t trust or have faith in our legislators and elected officials.
We have the opportunity and the responsibilities to make big changes to improve life for people in ct
We need our loyal elected mayors an selectman to propose budgets that have no raise in taxes, it can be done. Also for many years towns have been dependent on the state funding them to operate their budgets, it would be great if we can eliminate this process and towns become more self-sufficient and not need State aid. Example the amount of grants and state reimbursement to construction can save the State billions of dollars. Connecticut is currently spending 5 billion a year on our 169 towns and cites.
Smaller Government
I WILL SUPPORT GETTING SOLUTIONS:
On Smaller Government. You better believe it... I do.
I am not a Party Platform person, which everyone knows since I declared my run for Governor, the goals of the party to “return government to its proper role, making it smaller and smarter…
The Republican party has clearly adopted smaller government as its mantra. My Independent Party beliefs inside me are not based on Republican or Democrat but more what the people the voters want in Connecticut. The Democratic platform, by contrast, advocated a more energized government that “stands up for the hopes, values, and interests of working people, and gives everyone willing to work hard the chance to make the most of their God-given potential.”
Small government, on the other hand, is generally believed to lead to a more efficient and flexible system. “Getting government off our backs” or “getting government out of the way” are cries to return to the low-tax, no-regulation beliefs of the American Revolutionary period. The size of government envisioned by the country’s founders sought to cast off tyranny and empower small businessmen and entrepreneurs.
Smaller Government in my plan is I want to hire and employ more State workers, first responders, police offices, state police, and firefighters. Hard working state workers do not deserve layoffs. State agencies are an integral structure that needs to be up and running with full staff. The residents of our State need these services and jobs filled. With State jobs constantly on the cutting block due to its financial woes and the lack of balancing its budget, the government should be smaller. The Governor should be seeing to the mainstreaming of the staff that is necessary to operate the State. Workers shouldn’t be let go because the State doesn’t have the money to pay their paychecks. It isn’t fair, but that is what is currently happening under the current leadership. A governor should want a smaller government but shouldn't be making it smaller because the state doesn’t have the money, and that is what is happening today. "Not having the money" is bad business practices...but, the State does have the money and spends it with very little accountability. Think about it would you want to be a State worker of CT knowing your job can be cut, just because democrats and republican decided they can’t afford you? It is wrong. That is bad management of the business of Connecticut and this needs to stop immediately.
According to opinion polls, college graduates are more likely to favor government restrictions on guns and protected borders, and are more tolerant of different lifestyles and policies on legal immigration. Paradoxically, however, they generally prefer maintaining and strengthening the social safety net of entitlement programs, including Social Security and Medicare, while simultaneously limiting federal restrictions and regulations on business activities.
he terms “big government” and “little government” more likely reflect the attitude of the individual than the actual size or role of our existing government. The foundation of democracy – the form of government where each citizen has an equal say in the decisions that affect their lives – is compromise, an outcome where no one gets exactly what they want, but everyone gets something.
I would work hard to voice my opinion on what legislators I wouldn't support in Connecticut both parties and spend my personal money on campaigns to stand my point to why their election is harmful to the people of Connecticut.
Self-Interest Is of Utmost Importance Regardless of Belief System- think about it... just doesn't work.
Less legislators to Hartford that come with their own personal agenda and not the voters they represent in their home district towns is disheartening to me. I would also bring forth legislation term limits to elected officials, redistrict town representation per voter districts. The all boys club State of CT State Capitol and it does need a new shake up. I would be honored to do it.
Education
I WILL SUPPORT GETTING SOLUTIONS:
On Education.
I am for School Choice. I also, support public school choice, including charter schools and magnet schools that meet the same high standards as other schools. I hope to build new schools and provide them with the technology and equipment for a modern education to fulfill this goal." I know that every child, no matter who they are, how much their families earn, or where they live, should have access to a high-quality education, from preschool through high school and beyond.”
I understand the importance of turning around struggling public schools. We will ... We will also help expand educational opportunities for college by making college tuition tax deductible, expanding Pell Grants, and cut student loan interest rates.
It is time to get back to basics and to higher education programs directly related to job opportunities. The first step is to acknowledge the ... We applaud efforts to promote school choice initiatives that give parents more control over their children's education.
With any political opinion, it's pretty easy to see where the parties stand. Democrats tend to want government to handle things, while Republicans tend to want the free market to handle things. Where this is most glaringly obvious is with teacher's unions. Democrats support teacher's unions over education is my opinion. I will support teacher's unions, teachers pensions, improved education, give parents more control, and make college accessible no questions asked.
As a candidate for Governor I would like an answer why casino tax revenue funds that was suppose to go to education isn't and why not.
and I want State Democrats who are responsible of this to answer:
The treasurer, Denise L. Nappier also questioned, Connecticut borrowed $2 billion to shore up the cash-starved pension fund in 2008. And it promised in its contractual covenant with bond investors not to reduce state contributions into the fund over the 25-year life of that $2 billion loan. The state’s two major teacher unions, the Connecticut chapter of the American Federation of Teachers and the Connecticut Education Association, criticized the increased employee contributions, calling it a “tax” on teachers.
“From the beginning, our members made clear that a targeted tax on teachers was an unjust approach to balancing Connecticut’s finances,” said AFT Connecticut Vice President Stephen McKeever. “… We appreciate the state treasurer once again demonstrating due diligence and calling attention to the shortcomings of the compromise state budget’s final provision. Exposing the threat to the stability of this vital public asset should move lawmakers to right their wrong in the next legislative session.”
Republican legislative leaders — who originally wanted teacher contributions raised over two years to 8 percent — objected to the “tax” claim. GOP lawmakers countered that teachers were being asked to contribute more — as state employees are — but also would get their contributions back upon retirement.
We Democrats honor our State's teachers. If we want high-quality education for all our kids, we must listen to the people who are on the front lines. The President has laid out a plan to prevent more teacher layoffs while attracting and rewarding great teachers. This includes raising standards for the programs that improve education and is a goal of mine and what I stand for. I support policies which stimulate the creation of new, accountable public schools. I support mechanisms that allow parents to select excellent schools for their children, and where education dollars follow each child to their school. I support governance structures which hold leaders responsible,
Any school with an endowment of more than $25 billion should pay the higher of either 1% wealth tax or 10% of the returns on the endowments investments. These moneys would go to the State's Education lock box, and will be used for education only and if excess for unfunded liabilities. Colleges should invest into the cities and towns of CT that surround them as they are the neighbors that need a helping hand in Connecticut’s economic history.
Gender Equality
I WILL SUPPORT GETTING SOLUTIONS:
On Gender Equality.
You will see me support to bring solutions and bring the right people together to take a stand on doing all we can to be leaders in what needs to be done to empower woman to stand up and solution this issue. Gender Equality, Pay Equality for woman is legislation that can be changed for the better in 2018 and I will .
My platform will include:
Gender equality
Pay equality for woman (Bring change to Pay Equality Discrimination)
Woman empowerment (Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls)
Equal Pay Act (In 2015, female full-time, year-round workers made only 80 cents for every dollar earned by men)
a gender wage gap of 20 percent. Women, on average, earn less than men
Bring new legislation to make pay equality a reality for woman
Ask for new procedures of what can be asked of an individual at a job interview.
Pass legislation bipartisan to bring pay equality for woman.
Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world. Sexual equality, is the state of equal ease of access to resources and opportunities regardless of gender, including economic participation and decision-making;
I will celebrate this right because my business has, from its founding almost 20 years ago, led the pack on issues like the gender-wage gap and ethnic diversity. I am proud of our record setting the standard for how Connecticut businesses should operate.
All employees have: competitive salaries and equal pay, generous paid time off and sick leave, superb medical coverage, good pensions, and a work environment with a strict code against any form of sexual harassment.
This is leadership that I have shown throughout my corporate and small-business life and will offer to all Connecticut residents with the same level of equality and respect, as I run for Governor.
Tackling our State's finances is not an easy task, but I can, and that is why we need a Governor who has the experience on Day 1 to issue bonds for the best rates possible, and the experience to increase our pension fund returns – without sacrificing our shared values of equality and social justice.
We need a leader, like myself, who will work for an economy that benefits us all. That is my promise.
Budget
Malloy and the Democrats passed two of the largest tax increases in Connecticut’s history and the consequence is that we are losing our businesses to our neighbors in New England.
This madness must stop now. a proposed no tax increase budget, cut spending, stop capitol waste, and leadership to keep businesses in CT is necessary immediately we cant wait to the next election it needs to happen now.
Hospitals, Schools, Teachers, and working families have kept there promises its now time for us as government leaders to be held to our promises to the people of the State.
I am a Democrat that has these ideals and I can lead the way.
I can remove several taxes, and keep the same about of revenue in our budget. cause I am smart, have great team of advisors and facts that can rebuild the tax base no on the back of the taxpayers and I am willing to demand the change we need in our State to both parties and get our financials working again.
I am a person that can represent everyone in the State. I can do this, and will make sure there is a stop to the waste of Governorment at the expense of the taxpayers.
Together we can build a new economy, keeping people accountable and giving us all a fair shake at making a better life. Together we can encourage new job growth by providing fewer regulations. Jobs that last as a result of our better business practices. Less taxes for allowing people to grow their businesses in our State. I want our residents to earn a decent wage, and I will support an increase in the minimum wage, See better economical plans that produce taxes from the basics not from who we can tax next, and see how we can stop certain taxes, lower others and see larger tex revenues with my plans.
SOMEONE NEEDS TO ASK WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SURPLUS WE ONCE HAD, AND WHY WE ARE NOW AT BILLION DOLLAR DEFICIT.
Taxes are our States stick it to you plan and it has to stop. It CAN be done.
rememberin Business 101: You can't spend what you don’t have… and you
need to make it first, before you spend it. Try that business plan Connecticut.
People all over this State are saying they have been taxed on everything. It is true.
Term limits, limit on Bills to create Taxes, benefits to legislators and legislator’s salaries will need to be cut.
It is my goal as your next Governor to lead us to a better path for the people of CT…the income tax should be lowered and the Sales Tax should be raised to 7 % to put more money in your hands and allow you the choices to how you wish to spend it.
The estate & gift tax should be stopped and repealed, so Connecticut residents see their passing of their wealth not a tax burden to do so.
Tolls should be placed at our State borders and the funds should be set up in an Infrastructure/ transportation fund, not the general fund.
I would also ask our wealth colleges and universities to pay a fair share to the State. Any school with an endowment of more than $25 billion should pay the higher of either 1% wealth tax or 10% of the returns on the endowments investments. These moneys would go to the State and will be used for education only and if excess for unfunded liabilities. Colleges should invest into the cities and towns of CT that surround them as they are the neighbors that need a helping hand in Connecticut’s economic history and if our state law stops this we should find the ways to make it happen together we obviously have the lawyers in the state to do so. Its as I said before we need new relationships, new conversations that we have not had in decades to fix CT on a better path and move it forward.
This is a 2.5 billion conversation that is necessary that we as a State need to have with our universities, churches and non profits
Connecticut we need to move forward again.. make the money first before you spend it is a simple rule in business and I will follow that rule.
State layoffs. Hard working state workers do not deserve this.
Workers shouldn’t be let go because the state doesn’t have the money to pay their pay checks. It isn’t fair, but that is what is currently happening under the current leadership. A governor should want a smaller government but shouldn't be making it smaller because the state doesn’t have the money.
After almost eight years of supporting Dan Malloy’s pro-tax, anti-jobs agenda, potential Democrat candidates trying to succeed him will have to answer for enabling the economic catastrophe Malloy’s policies have caused. But while we may try to distance ourselves from the failed governor on the campaign trail, Connecticut voters have seen firsthand how damaging his policies have been and they will hold Democrats accountable in 2018.
Eight years, is eight years too long to have supported ANY of Malloy's agendas. To make clear, I am NOT a career politician, but a Democratic citizen that has decided to stand up and run for office, because like this State's residents, I am fed up. I have been involved locally with committees in my town of residence (Branford), and I ran for First Selectman to try to bring changes to my immediately local community.
I have kept a sharp eye on everything that has been happening to our State's residents under Malloy's governorship, and I can not stand it no more. I am a democrat that can stand up and say I don’t agree with our governor’s team, policies, and allies to enable the economic catastrophe Malloys polices have put us in., I am able to say I cant follow the same path and will make sure you hear that clearly in my video message as I have, and will do so more along the campaign trail. Its time to end damaging polices and I can hold democrats and republicans accountable to what they have and plan to do in the future… its time to be bipartisan but to actually say it but to really follow thru that you did… and this is WHY I am running for the Office of Governor.
Our State is desperately in need of a fresh set of eyes and a Governor willing to dig in and bring change and make the difficult decisions that will be necessary to bring this State back to financial health. It IS do-able. We can stop Government waste , spending and high costs we have to operate our State, But we have to come together as a collective unified State, and do the financial work necessary to restore Connecticut’s financial well-being.
Many ask me how are you going to get democrats and republicans to come together to agree on a budget when they are two groups that don’t. both parties can and ill be there, every line item, every meeting and every conversation as both parties want the best for all of us, but have different ways on how they reach that “best” and today it just seems its one against the other and neither want to agree to the others differences. So easy better said than done, but it’s how our democracy works… and our current budget has grown to be so massive and so many parts from less money coming to state, commitments and legislators wants and policies, yes I will say it the elected officials shouldn’t find it hard to divide up 17 billion dollars of taxes the State received from our citizen taxpayers… maybe cause its not there money…
our budget starts July 1 2017 with a 1.7 billion deficit and we go thru 3 budgets. 1. The appropriations budget which has 58 members 2. A republican budget and 3. The governor’s budget. So how would I fix this process its simple my Governors budget wouldn’t be put together on my parties desires it would be built on both parties wants and the smart well thought out plans from knowing what they both are at odds about. So if the Governor’s budget is the best of both parties than it wouldn’t be so debated among the other committees. A governor must present a budget that is bi patricians built in budgets of months of meetings with everyone that is involved. If 700 million in concessions is required than that is the goal, but we are overlooking what I can do to fix a state of lack of business, developments and jobs growth… these new state projects, new tax revenue ideas and tourism developments that will provide the revenue funds that we are not currently doing will eliminate to possibly make concessions absolute.
Unions shouldn’t be picked on, certain state works, departments, and programs should as well, we need to run the state on the belief … we do more not less. Unions, state employees and tax payers all have said they have given up all they can… so we need to listen to them and stop asking them to give up more. let’s make this budget process better for all the people involved, I would present my budget with transparency and include all the compromising parts required to be competitive in business and benefit everyone in the State.
I will put the right people in place to do this necessary step of our government annually. A budget should be exciting to the people of the State not the focus of bad news our media report in their nightly news and newspapers top stories.
Income Tax Receipts Plunge Connecticut’s Budget Further Into Deficit. Connecticut’s income tax collections plummeted at the end of April leaving Connecticut with a gaping $5.2 billion hole in its budget for this year and the next two fiscal years.
Revenues are down about $413 million this fiscal year, and another $597 million and $865 million in fiscal year 2018 and 2019, according to the latest estimates. That means the budget hole lawmakers and Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy will have to fill after depleting the $235 million rainy day fund is about $5.2 billion., this budget number has not been this bad since 2009.
the state budget crisis deepens, with an approximate $389.8 million shortfall.
“We need to take immediate action to reduce spending between now and June 30 to reduce our current year deficit as much as possible to prevent the need to borrow to meet expenses.”
The revenue from Connecticut’s top 100 taxpayers was down 45 percent, according to budget analysts. there’s a reason Connecticut’s top 100 taxpayers are down 45 percent in their income.
“The reason is they’re not paying taxes here anymore,”
millionaires are fleeing Connecticut after the two largest tax increases in the state’s history.
Personal income tax revenues were down $450 million from projections.
More specifically, a majority of the decline in the income tax receipts is from the withholding and finals portion of the tax, which is tied to capital gains and investment income. That part ended up being down 8.9 percent.
“This is the second consecutive year of negative growth in this portion of the revenue,” according to the nonpartisan Office of Fiscal Analysis.
The paycheck withholding portion of the income tax grew 2.2 percent.
there’s a similar trend in states that are dependent on high income earners. the stock market might be performing well, but the high net worth individuals were reluctant to invest or realize capital gains in 2016. But this trend is not unique to Connecticut.
“Do I believe that discussion of tax policy, the likes of which have taken place or our over reliance, in some senses on the wealthiest, can be perceived as a negative? yes
the top one percent pays about 30 percent of the income tax revenue in Connecticut.
Malloy said the “mere mention” of increasing taxes some 19.6 percent on the hedge fund industry could be detrimental to Connecticut’s bottom line.
The hedge fund industry is “important” and generates a lot of revenue for the state of Connecticut.
This is why a political outsider needs to look at the budget and plan our future.
The majority and minority legislators should be asking us, the candidates for governor, to join them in meetings and ask us how we would look at the budget and propose our ideas. We are valuable outsiders that have plenty to say as the current elected officials are not open to change and both parties should be stepping up to get outsiders involved.
I have come up with some great areas to assist our State’s bleeding budget, but it WILL be work to fix it. It WILL require give and take from everyone, but ultimately, we WILL be able to successfully bring the State out of the red, but the residents will need to be ready to do the work with me to achieve this. I AM the candidate that sees and feels the financial pinch just like you do, and it is a large reason I am running...to fix it, for all of us. I will address my plans and points for what I feel will help our budget succeed, but I will also need you, as residents of our State to continue to get involved and vocalize your views, opinions and ideas as it can help better shape the plans to attack our State’s budget. I want every resident to understand that I am listening, and will personally show up to meet with you and listen to you know what exactly is effecting you and what I can do to solution it. I am the candidate that truly cares about changing the direction of this State on the budgetary process. Again my governor’s budget should be the best budget of everything that you the people want, both parties want and what I want.
Voter trust doesn’t come with experience anymore since most people don’t trust or have faith in our legislators and elected officials. I am here telling you, I want this to change. This is why your input, your voices and ideas are important, as they will enhance the plans that I have for our State, and bring about the best possible solutions for us all. I want to earn your trust.
We have the potential, opportunity and responsibility to make big changes to improve life for the residents of our State.
We need our loyal elected mayors and selectman to propose budgets that have no raises in taxes, it can be done. For many years, towns have been dependent on the State funding them to operate their budgets. It would be a great step forward if we can eliminate this process so that towns become more self-sufficient and not dependent on State aid. As an example: the amount of grants and state reimbursements to construction can save the State billions of dollars.
The time for change has come Connecticut, and that time is now. I am your Democratic Candidate for Governor of this beautiful State…and I am ready to start now, stand up for our values and join us together and united our State. We can and will, move Connecticut forward.
I thank you for your consideration and support.
Gambling/Casinos
Where do I stand on GAMBLING?
First ,YES I SUPPORT more casinos in Connecticut…
I do not feel the State should set a limit on how many casinos we can build. We should be thinking long term, each case and property will be subject to debate and regulations, and the will of the people should be involved in these decisions, not just the legislators… but keeping it open as an option to expand, should be available to the State.
Hello. I am Jacey Wyatt, and I am your Democratic candidate for Governor of the beautiful State of Connecticut.
There are a few places in my grander plan for Connecticut that I am planning to use to create a building boom of jobs and the economy to bring in tax revenue and breathe life into underdeveloped properties in the State. I would suggest bringing casino resorts to our Connecticut.
I feel that casino bids should be more competitive, and the tribes shouldn't be the sole developers of casinos in the State. If Wynn, MGM, Caesars, Kessler, Hard Rock, Trump, and our local Native American Tribes also bid on projects it would open up more possibilities to the State and who we can choose from.
The East Windsor casino plan is of concern, but from what I had been educated to know about the project is the elected officials and a percentage of the town people want to see the property developed and a percentage of the people don’t want the casino. Let's stop for a second and think, just because competitive business comes along...does that mean we need to compete? Yes and no… More businesses that do similar things give the consumer more options to shop, offers competitive pricing and brings better customer service as a result of said competition.
But casino vs. casino...it isn’t the same business. To fall into a category of competitive businesses idea, there would have to be competition. It is currently more of a local vs. regional competition. What we currently have in place effectively services the people from Hartford to the Massachusetts border towns, around Windsor, Enfield and Hartford metropolitan area. People in Greenwich, Westport or Branford areas can care less about a casino in East Windsor, as they are not the people who will most likely visit this casino, or that this casino would market to. This is a reality of economics and business, and the people could benefit in tax revenues...but this isn’t a family oriented tourism destination built for competing with one another, it is a battle of Connecticut against Massachusetts to get taxes. Again, Connecticut knows Massachusetts and surrounding towns keep winning over our State.
[INSERT MY GE AND UTC VIDEO SPEECH FROM THE WEB]
Take, for example, Orlando, Florida. Disney built its empire as a family destination resort to keep people on their property, utilizing their attractions, restaurants, shops and hotel resorts. The city, itself, built around Disney to compete. That is a success for the economics of Florida, and what Connecticut hasn’t thought about doing. The Native American tribes are the only two business competitions that are doing this in our State. They want you on their property and will compete to get and keep you there.
The people in East Windsor wanted a referendum to let them vote on this, which was turned down. But the elected officials should have approved a referendum for the will of the people regarding this issue. Yet again, the elected officials failed the residents of our State. To me, this tracks as yet another breakdown in the system of the way we do things in this State. I believe that its residents should be allowed to vote, and have the opportunity to air their pros and cons, and have a say in the future and history of their town. Even if the outcome is in the favor of the people who want the casino, at least the opposition will be given a fair shake. It shouldn’t only be about what the town and/or tribes want, it should be about the wants and needs of the people that live there too. The State has state rights and tax law that will benefit a project to be built, and at any time the State isn’t getting its fair shake, it can, and it will exercise those rights. But where there is an opposition, the residents are equally in the right to say "we don’t want it in our town."
Legislators, local town elected officials and citizens should be looking at the bigger picture - the pros and cons of each idea before voting.
A good part of my public life has been spent working toward being the voice of the people in my community that have gone largely unheard. At many Branford public meetings, I have clearly stated to the elected or appointed members "your vote is going to have a long term effect, and if you do not like what Branford is looking like and becoming, it is you that would be making it look like it does for years." So can you live with your vote? It is important to me.
And as with all the pros to the economy, we would also need to examine the cons. We would need to look into gambling addiction, crime, and the financial impact on the people that have to live with a casino and all it brings into their town. The long term costs to support the gambling addictions casinos may cause should also be addressed. I am aware of this because it happened in my own family with gambling addictions. It’s a give and take, and the costs of gambling should also be addressed. We should be setting new ideas that find solutions to resolve the problems casinos may cause. My suggestion is that we put a percentage of the collected funds and taxes in a lockbox fund to help addictions and crime and provide funding for more State Police. Police, security, credit fraud and gambling addictions cost money and these funds can support these costs without dipping into State General funds.
The time for change has come Connecticut, and that time is now. I am your Democratic Candidate for Governor of this beautiful State and I am ready to start now, stand up for our values and join us together as a united State so we can and we will, move Connecticut forward.
Thank you
Sanctuary Cities
Where do I stand on Sanctuary Cities?
First ,No I don't SUPPORT Sanctuary Cities in Connecticut…
I will do what I can to executive order Connecticut cities that are not following federal law.
A number of Connecticut cities have taken steps to protect undocumented immigrants since Donald Trump's inauguration.
I will bring new legislation bipartisan to make Connecticut's "Dreamers" seek the path to become legal American citizens and remain in Connecticut,
I want to start path to citizenship processing faster than any other State.
I will make sure the State hires translators, State assistance and Legal Representatives to solution the process from being a harsh and unfair process to a whole new positive process. Quickly and as fast as is possible.
Immigration is a positive part of life in America and there should be no restrictions, unless the Federal Government feels differently on what and who is restrictions. A sanctuary city is a city that limits its cooperation with the national government effort to enforce immigration law. I don't agree that any city employee or volunteer should limit its honor to support law. We need to live in a world you either support the law or don't.. and if you don't why was the law created and written? In a sanctuary city, the police will release an arrested immigrant after he's been cleared of charges, posted bail, or completed jail time for whatever he was arrested for. A non-sanctuary city will hold that person until ICE can come pick them up.
I will as Governor ask our current sanctuary cities to follow Federal and State Law and ask our Attorney General to do so as well. If conversations insist I will use my voice as Governor to make my stand.
Federal Immigration Laws will be uphold by me as Governor and ask our State to do so as well. There isn't a firm legal definition for sanctuary cities, and different cities have dissimilar rules for how much they comply with federal immigration authorities and I feel we should comply with Federal Immigration.
I will hold a mayor politically responsible to every dollar in State aid that is deducted in federal aid by being a Sanctuary City. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy also have written Sessions over his policy of cracking down on “sanctuary” cities and states by withholding federal law enforcement funds. Connecticut's lawmakers asked Attorney General Jeff Sessions why the state has not received about $2.6 million in 2017 federal policing grants, suggesting the delay may be the result of “Connecticut's immigration laws and policies.” “If true, this delay would be illogical and potentially illegal,” I don't agree with Blumenthal and Murphy and ask them not to speak for me on any Connecticut representation on Sanctuary Cities.
I would hope that we can end the words Sanctuary City in Connecticut and start doing the best for all individuals and immigrant that are living in CT, that need the option to live there. There is State protections and there is no need to have a purpose, in my opinion, for a Sanctuary City in the year 2018. There is solutions that we can do together to make sure immigrants can meet the want to follow the path to American citizenship, which in many is the value we would hope is made possible and be comfortable to see the legal process is available.
Bathroom Choice
Where do I stand on BATHROOM CHOICE?
First ,YES I SUPPORT Bathroom Choice in Connecticut… Jacey Wyatt will step out in front of Bathroom Choice Debate. Being the first transgender woman to ever run for Governor in the United State has heard and been part of the question of what gender I am or was to use a public bathroom.
To me this center of a nationwide debate over gender identity, civil rights and privacy is simple, no matter what your birth born gender is, the gender you identify with should be the bathroom choice. I have since my teens I used a female bathroom by choice. My gender is listed as female, on my birth certificate, state id, passport and social security number, i identify as a female and only use a female bathroom.
I would allow transgender employees, and visitors in all State and Public access buildings to choose the restroom and fitting room that corresponded with their gender identities.
North Carolina passed a law restricting bathroom access to transgender people, a bill that set off a national debate that has even extended to the presidential campaign and will in the Governor race with me running for office in this State. Many states have updated their statutes barring employers from discriminating based on sexual identity to include gender identity, too.
The conversation of policy threatens the public’s safety, it doesn't to me, it isn't an argument it is discrimination to me and is limiting the source of compassion of people to be kind to fellow human beings.Several states, school districts and corporations have adopted their own policies affirming transgender people’s right to use the bathroom that aligns with their gender identity and have not reported problems, opponents of bathroom bills say.
Bathroom policies affect transgender people in serious ways. Transgender students have reported being told that they needed to use a unisex nurse’s office or staff restroom—missing out on class time, being teased and feeling “quarantined.” More than a quarter of transgender adults say they’ve been denied access to “gender-appropriate facilities.” Nearly 70% of transgender people said they had experienced verbal harassment in a situation involving gender-segregated bathrooms, while nearly 10% reported physical assault. Transgender people will often seek out unisex bathrooms to avoid conflict that makes them feel like they don’t belong in one space or the other.
In the meantime, courts will continue to help decide the issue. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Department of Justice have found that discrimination against transgender people—including denying them bathroom access—is a form of sex discrimination covered under the Civil Rights Act.
I would support all Federal and State judge to support transgender students and individuals to use the bathroom of their choice.
I still get a huh! when i read articles online "Everything You Need to Know About the Debate Over Transgender People and Bathrooms" imagine that its being written like its a tool to teach people how to boil water. One day the bathroom of choice will not be today's news as leader transgender woman like myself to move us forward!
If what bathroom I decided to identify too is national news... than let it be news!
The L.G.B.T.Q agenda has my support and my voice to make the change legal in Connecticut and beyond.
Economy & Growth
I WILL SUPPORT GETTING SOLUTIONS:
On Economy & Growth in Connecticut.
State needs to utilize its STATE RIGHTS and EMINENT DOMAIN. I would.. I know Connecticut has a benchmark for eminent domain, bad outcomes from legal cases , towns not successful with the results, and I want to turn that past into a positive future and showing you how eminent domain should be working for all of us for taxes, economic development but mostly for tourism development tax revenues… It can be a really touchy subject for people that have been ousted from their homes as a result and negative projects that cost towns millions. I will elaboration on the State Rights and Eminent Domain and why I do want to educate people more about this process is a good process.
My tourism development plan we would be bringing in 45 million new tourists to the State utilizing use in gas tax, hotels, sales of merchandise etc.. the tourists would be the largest population in the state to benefit the increase in taxes as they come and leave and the people of the state would have more money in their pocket with a lower income tax and give them the privilege to what they buy and the slight additional costs to do so… if you don’t shop much than the sales tax increase wouldn’t hurt your bottom line, as it is a solution to who and how we use the tax.
Last year, the Sunshine State welcomed 105 million out-of-state and international visitors, marking the fifth consecutive record year for Florida tourism. Newly released figures from the Florida Department of Revenue report that visitors spent $89.1 billion in 2015, an increase of $7.1 billion from the previous year:
Total taxable sales in Florida hotels and lodgings were $23.5 billion, up 11.1%
Total taxable sales in admissions (including attractions) were $15.1 billion, up 9%
Total taxable sales in restaurants were $39.3 billion, up 8.2 %
“Visitors spent $89.1 billion in Florida last year on taxable goods, of which more than $5.3 billion was returned to the state in sales tax collections.
Orlando Florida's current sales tax use is 6.5 % plus a
4% on amusement machine receipts
Las vegas is 8.25%
Nyc 8.875%
So if, Connecticut raised its Sales and Use Tax to 6.99 (7%) we are competitive to the largest tourism destinations in the United States. By having a lower sales tax we can benefit from it as a marketing tool to attract tourism visitors by having a lower sales tax than the other cities.
Connecticut’s Population
2014 census 3.597 million
“Do I believe that discussion of tax policy, the likes of which have taken place or our over reliance, in some senses on the wealthiest, can be perceived as a negative? yes
the top one percent pays about 30 percent of the income tax revenue in Connecticut.
the hedge fund industry is “important” and generates a lot of revenue for the state of Connecticut.
This is why a political outsider needs to look at the budget and explain it to the legislators… a set of new eyes that they don’t typically listen to is what will fix it. The majority and minority legislators should be asking us, the candidates for Governor, to join them in meetings and ask us how we would look at the budget and propose our ideas. We are valuable outsiders that have plenty to say as the current elected officials are not open to change and both parties should be stepping up to get outsiders involved.
Connecticut collected 17.3 billion in tax revenue in CT in the FY2015-2016 year. We collected $869,053,285 in fy2015-2016, so lets invest big corporate businesses mentality into main street again. Let us take for an example the $500,000,000 million of the corporate business tax revenue and then divide it by 169 towns. This equals $2,958,579.88 each that the state will spend in each town/city in Connecticut to purchase land and cover state/local permits to allow many investors/developers to make bids on building town-needed projects such as new residential housing, affordable housing, senior community resorts, or items such as a new sports center [in Hartford]. But, most important these direct investments in every town will encourage each towns grand list, which than gives taxes back to the state a return on its investment into each city/town on advancing a desire to how we can build new prospective developments the State designed for those city/town locations. Meaning the State will invest in each town and the State being the developer to purchase 25-50 acres ($60,000 to 10,000 per acre) in each, for projects by buying and transferring State owned land to towns with corporate tax revenues, they are investing into the towns that surround them. Remember the State should be the developer to create tax revenue by overseeing development investments. I understand we lived for years with the state being over budget to build state projects those were bad business practices of the past, but remember I am a different type of Governor and it will eventually be the way we do it, not what we learned in the past that the state cant budget and or at least build a building on budget and on-time. But We can though… with me. I can guarantee you that 169 towns will agree to find the
This project is open. If a town has a need that the State can step in to help get built, that is what this is all about. If it is for housing, affordable housing, a community pool, or a new fire or police department building or a park and preservation of historic districts. Imagine that 169 towns presenting to the state what they need built that the land is holding up the startup of a great idea. I will be open to have the town present to me mutli alternatives that the people and the town leaders work together to create the energy and momentum that is lacking in the state these days. This is the kind of relationship I wish to bring to the people of the State and our cities and towns.
Tell me, when has a Governor handed back approximately 3 million to every town in ct at the same time in a budget with state wide deficits of a billion dollars?, for real estate developments to bring in 1.7 billion in real estate taxes from the 500 million collected corporate business taxes. This is a smart long term investment to bring a bigger return to invest into each town. Investing in each town is investing in each person in the town and city.
And corporate business tax businesses and owners I will help you as well as remember in the tax revenue of $869,053,285 in fy2015-2016 subtract the 500,000,000 that leaves 369,053,285 I can divide among all of you to lower your corporate taxes and will see how 369 million in corporate taxes will be cut from our budget because of the 1.7 billion in returned conveyance taxes. this doubles the amount we currently collect in corporate business taxes by eliminating it from future state budgets and this idea can take place every year in the budget. Making state tax revenue by eliminating a tax is my goal.
5 billion * .34% rate equals 1.7 billion
30 million * 169 town projects equals 5 billion
30 million *.34 equals $10,200,000 in tax returns from development per town
State
Receives
State invests 3 million to purchase land/ permits get $10,200,000 in taxes return
State and local towns pick investor developer to build project
Perspective development listed to bid is 30 million or more… state purchases land for developer approx. 25 – 50 acres to build a development town needs.
town
Receives
A 30 million grand list property addition with an assessed value property that turns a $707,700 sample taxes per year to town Mill rate 23.49
Developer
Receives
30 million subtract $10,200,000 taxes to state equals $19,800,000 million profit less costs of construction. Development can have phases to grow property taxes and profits to investors.
Developer needs to provide investment private and personal.
Also:
Tourism Development Economic Growth:
15,000 hotel rooms built in Connecticut would return $109,500,000 in Tax Revenue to the State Annually.
3 million visitors would generate $741,000,000 annual to the State. (based on $247 per person)
22.5 million visitors (5.6 billion)
45 million visitors (11.2 billion)
We can compare these figures which are higher annually, than the amount we are currently collection on the people of Connecticut in Income Tax. Tourism is our future not the income tax!
Economic Development and Growth is important to bring business, new business, construction and jobs back to Connecticut. Reinvesting into Ct is important to plan the future. I will support Union construction developments.
My office has 100+ developments ready to build, plan and develop in Connecticut and Private and public investors can access them at meetings upon signature of confidential and disclosure agreement.
The list includes;
Branford Village
Nut Meg Mall Resort
MGM Resorts
Hartford River Plaza
Twin Harbors International Airport
These tourism developments are the State's future and will bring billions to improve the strength of the Connecticut financials. I will be a leader in the States with strong realistic goals to lead the Northeast in new construction and economic growth and developments.
Big and small business growth all over the State will be my focus and daily job as Governor.
Watch My Story video on home page to see and learn more about my Economic Growth plans and the new Connecticut future.
Healthcare Reform
I WILL SUPPORT GETTING SOLUTIONS:
On Healthcare Reform.
I will not support the Affordable Care Act, (ACA) and will not support Access Health in Connecticut.
I am in agreement that President Trump has made it law that there is no mandate to have health insurance in the United States anymore.
Health Insurance is expensive and necessary and want a Health Care system that actually works for all incomes. I am transgender and I don't qualify for any Federal or State Insurance and only can get Insurance by paying for it myself, if only preexisting conditions are accepted, which most don't. So I don't qualify for any Health Insurance. I know plenty of people that don't have health insurance for total different reasons and or can't afford it and are picking rent over health. I would like the State to offer a one payer system with all CT based Insurance companies and employers. Meaning, if Cigna can buy a company for 67 billion dollars and Connecticut is the insurance capitol of the United States why aren’t our Corporate Insurance based companies stepping up to set presence to solve a Health Care for all as well as,a Mental Health care State program that solutions NRA, gun owners concerns that Mental Health is top priority. A one payer system, that has no mandates to penalize who doesn't wan to buy in, and offer the people of CT the best Health care we can. The State Health care for employees and unemployed shall also be included. The Insurance companies can come together to create the new programs for both.
Most of the citizens of Connecticut have insurance through their employer and would like a law that part time workers can get Health insurance and or we as a State should ask our lawmakers to required Health Insurance for part time employees thru their employer. A both pay in system that are lower than $99 and or start at $79 month. Health care is based on people who are catastrophe market, in need, and opt in when needed and healthy.
New Mental Health Program for the State and have any anti gun group or individual to help draft/write the policies and program to help with all the requirements to make gun safety for Mental health a solution within our State, and hope lead the nation in these safety measures. We should look to do what ACA did for health care but do it for Mental Health and associated concerns.
If we require yearly physicals why can't we at that doctor appointment include at a certain start age / young age do the same for a mental health review at the physical. Access and solution. We can ask schools and employers to all be involved in the see, hear act on something about mental health.
.First, I have thought hard about Mental Health as its a topic that makes the legislators nervous, and it should not. It is not a topic that should be bypassed. I will gladly address this and make it high on the priorities list to work for a real solution for the people of Connecticut and their children and many others that "fall through the cracks" as a result of a lack of understanding and education on the topic. I would want parents involved in the conversations that would help bring ideas to solutions.
Second, by opening a frank dialogue regarding this topic will help me to more effectively move forward where I can use State rights that would allow me to put pressure on for solutions.
I am transgender, I have constantly been made fun of, bullied, cyber bullied and told that I am a mental health issue, just purely by being myself. I agree to disagree, as my case is much different than a mental health issue in medical terms, but it still makes me a great voice to the concerns on mental health.
So, let us fix this, by addressing rather than ignoring the topic. It can produce employment and business opportunities to all 169 towns and cities and start a new health service like Access CT was set up to address health needs, provide counsel, school assistance programs, MD, PHD, psychologists, sociologists, address abilities, etc.
Mental health improvements can be a economic value, not a burden, to the State. But again, I would need many in the State to use their voice with me to make change personally ,so we can work together to bring great solutions to many families as well as many others who feel the same.
More, maybe we need to work toward a concept like when we go to the doctor for a physical, there should be a mental health test that can be database and overseen on risk/non risk, and a "1-800" number to report concerns which would then mobilize the new group mentioned above to get involved to address and solve the concerns and issues. A mental health (or new term) plan inserted into the school nursing program at schools should be a great starting step toward progress that could get results like I had mentioned above.
Starting in the schools and with the parents would be the best way to begin, rather than hoping a new state program is ruled into BOE requirements and hope no one fall through through the cracks.
Autism. Gun concerns. Domestic violence. Gender transitioning. All are important to me.
Thank you! I love the idea to bring in this checklist into schools or training teachers/ administration to recognize different mental health issues and how to handle them. That has been the biggest issue when my children go to school. Academically they can be incredibly smart so they cannot get special ed but many also gets bullied due to hyper sensitivity. Because an Autism child doesn't fit in the stereotypical box of a regular student even though he looks "normal", most teachers lack the ability to help them. I would like to see our schools have the ability to recognize what these children need whatever their issue is and have access to different programs to help these children.
Gun Control
I WILL SUPPORT GETTING SOLUTIONS:
On Gun Control.
I will support Sandy Hook Promise...That is my promise.
YES I SUPPORT THE SECOND AMENDMENT
I support NRA members as they are law abiding citizens of Connecticut and I am disgusted and appalled Governor Dannel Malloy would call the NRA a terrorist group. Him saying this is embarrassing and insulting to address fellow Connecticut Americans. Gov. Malloy is a terrible person, out of touch with the public, and the people of Connecticut and I don't support him and his statements.
So on that, I support the new conservative and next generation Democrat. I am not a career politician or an elected official and can separate myself from our past Democrats and able to support and respect the Presidency of Trump.
The Second (Amendment II)
A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
So, the above refers to citizen soldiers back in our colonial times…
Today, however, we have a Military, National Guard, State and local Police, and the purpose for citizens to bear arms and be their own citizen soldiers to protect themselves has changed for what the purpose was originally written.
Here is my opinion on gun control:
I can support the Second Amendment.
Gun advocates tell me they do not like the State Regulations that limits 10-round magazines because its too short and takes the fun out of target practice, background checks are limiting and that common gun control law isn’t going to stop a mass shooting, when crime is not caused by law abiding citizens.
My personal opinion and sole belief is that:
The AR15 riffles sole purpose is to kill human beings and not to hunt animals. It’s one and only purpose is for our military. There is no domestic protection purpose that an automatic or semi automatic gun makes it safer or necessary to be in any citizen’s hands or home for protections from crimes that can come to your doors. We live in Connecticut and we are a State of Laws. We need to put more efforts to follow them or follow through on them. We can pass a law that ever door and window is alarmed to make entries and doors camera monitored. Most alarm service systems are in contact with armed police officers and that will not protect you from any home invasion, robbery, or assault. A gun to protect yourself may, but again a crime will not be stopped or halted unless you are willing to shoot and operate this type of gun. If you have a hand gun and the intruder has an ar15 (etc) you are going to be under armed unfairly to protect yourself. So when do we come to a topic of gun fairness conversations, I will be the first to say I can see both sides of gun control. But can we as a State get the NRA a clear message to come to the table and work on changes that will be approved. I understand the rights of all the NRA members and every Connecticut law abiding citizen that owns and wants to own a gun, and I support their rights to bear arms. But I do feel we are in a crossroads in America where mental health will need to become part of the number 1 problem to solve or address, set laws, and bring forward new ideas to solve mental health issues and how we can pass laws that they should not be able to purchased any firearm. Remember i picked a job where i will need to wear a bullet proof vest daily to go to work and that is the new American Governor requirement. My thought is if you want to buy a gun you should be willing to present yourself to a background check. (but who is checking the background is it accurate? who is the they and what are they looking for? and what is allowing or can stop a purchase from a background check? Because a individual that is a criminal, listed on a no fly list, fbi list, and many many more lists would never be asking for a background check to purchase. They are not the individuals that would be applying or subject to a background check, is a question on the background check are you an American citizen? in the background check process, what would that prove? I would want the NRA and members to develop solutions.
Connecticut’s gun control laws that have passed I would support and are only binding in Connecticut and I am not running for Governor to be a star in the Federal gun Control movement, if law makers create new bills and pass laws through the CT legislation and get to my desk as Governor to sign I can say unless I was in day one on the bill I would only sign it. I want to focus on our borders and don’t support the hate. I am not a gun owner and don’t have any plans to own one, I have never accepted a contribution from the NRA and I have not from any lobbyist and I will never.
What I can do and look into:
Encourage the State to bring Connecticut to a talking point:
First get a tighter hold on Crime in this State. Our cities and towns need more officers and state resources to get criminals , drugs and broken individuals captured. The people that shouldn't have a gun can get it faster than any law binding citizen, if criminals are not willing to be a law binding citizen to agree to justice. We than need to get them off the streets and in a system that can see a second chance or life in prison, as i hear they are released from a corrupt Judicial system of Connecticut to go back and do it again and that should end as it is failing the people of Connecticut to keep us safe. We can do better to support our State and local police plus mayors and first selectmen concerns on crimes that is more than guns.
Smart tech guns to raise the level of gun safety in Connecticut. Have a gun switch out program to value guns with chip technology that recognizes your finger print and with a program to help turn old guns in that are not smart technology capable/compatible, it would be a win for the State and the manufacturers, sellers and the gun permitted owners to update. This will make a movement in the economy as well. Jobs.
Meaning, if Cigna can buy a company for 67 billion dollars and Connecticut is the insurance capitol of the United States why aren’t our Corporate Insurance stepping up to set presence to solve a Health Care for all and a Mental Health care State program that solutions NRA, gun owners concerns that Mental Health is top priority. A one payer system, that has no mandates to penalize who has to buy in, and offer the people of CT the best Health care we can. The Insurance companies can come together to create the new programs for both. Health care is based on people who are catastrophe market, in need, and opt in when needed and healthy.
An accountability of judicial decisions and what is or is not happening to protect Domestic Disturbance crimes where firearms are involved. Guns should be removed from these individuals and loss rights to own or possess a gun for life.
Background checks are tough from what I understand, but we need to fix background checks and make them work before one more addition in background checks. Of course we can always add more safety options to law but we still would need the NRA, gun owners and many people in the State to be at a point of conversation to solutions together at the same table. I don't want legislators making these decisions with out a give and take conversation to uphold these laws. Let's fix any loophole or concern that we are not doing at shops, shows, or etc and if its not getting fixed at federal level, do more at State level but Connecticut has some of the toughest and national leading legislation. So what is to fix?
Limit the type of guns citizens should be able to own should not be done without a give and take from both sides.
Create a gun safety plan where we can encourage gun clubs or new businesses in the State to be interactive on test guns, and pass gun tests, private guns and ammo database to encourage all gun owners to bring guns annually to a State Department (like new State Police Retail location) and create a tax credit program that is financially beneficial to an owner to continue to own responsibly, as well as encourage non-compliant owners to seek the opportunity to turn in stolen or undocumented guns for a list of opportunities, completing the purpose to register and submit to the database, every gun in our citizens possession, and to give incentive to turn in unregistered or stolen firearms without fear of prosecution...programs that can do more to make it beneficial to keep registered, responsible ownership above-board.
Set or raise age to 21 to buy firearms.(certain guns)- consider it
Impose a 3 day waiting period for gun purchases.
Ask for State requirements for public knowledge thru advertising of any in State gun convention or gun show.
Ask all NRA members, gun advocate groups to be at the table of information negotiations, and conversation to bring compromise from both sides.
Ask for repeal of laws that a gun manufacture in the state of Connecticut be held to a fine per dealth.
Since cigarettes and smoking causes cancer and kills more people in the State than guns have nationally, are we going to take a stand on a cigarettes ban to not be sold in Connecticut ever? Connecticut Sales tax and use collect in FY 15-16 collected $361,578,676 million on taxing cigarettes, plus a Tobacco tax of 12 million. Connecticut collects more tax money than we do on any questionable products of concerns and cigarette cause humans to die.Current 2018 US Dealth Toll: Tobacco: 43,934 vs murder by Guns 1,443
Most, important I am listening and open to learning and knowing more. Anyone can tell me what you want done, suggestions and ideas. With everyone involved, we can make gun control beneficial on every level.
Simple Gun owners want to be left alone and don't want to do more than they do already as we have asked them to do plenty and I agree with that and why I support the second amendment.
Common Gun control isn't the solution to making the schools and public buildings safer or will they end evil and the next national tragedy, Arming teachers inst the fix and I don't suggest its the solution to this issue, but we can build safer schools and buildings that have concrete barriers at door to stop penetration entry's, mar-guard GE plastic (bullet proof) in windows and door, shelter in place rooms in classrooms, retired and military resource officers at all entries, metal guard interior doors, cameras, metal detectors, armed principals, school mental health alerts, plus so much more but today the children and students, teachers and families want the simple American right that when you go to these places you are safe and going to go home again. I will do my part to do this.
Who ever our new Attorney General is will be busy with lots of law suits against the State, when we act as many will sue the State for gun ownership rights.
LGBTQ Rights
I WILL SUPPORT GETTING SOLUTIONS:
On LGBTQ Rights.
I am a transgender woman and I am proud to be me.- It is time for equal rights- Jacey Wyatt
People around the world face violence and inequality—and sometimes torture, even execution—because of who they love, how they look, or who they are.
Sexual orientation and gender identity are integral aspects of our selves and should never lead to discrimination or abuse.
I would work for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender peoples' rights, and with activists representing a multiplicity of identities and issues. We together need to document and expose abuses based on sexual orientation and gender identity worldwide, including torture, killing and executions, arrests under unjust laws, unequal treatment, censorship, medical abuses, discrimination in health and jobs and housing, domestic violence, abuses against children, and denial of family rights and recognition. We together with my support will advocate for laws and policies that will protect everyone’s dignity. We should work for a world where all people can enjoy their rights fully. Remember we should leave this planet better than how we found it.
We all should respect one another and support equality.
I have been invited and spoke at many LGTBQ great organizations in Connecticut to support, show my willing to listen, join events to use my powerful voice to lead a generation of being transgender. I am honored to be making history to say I am the first transgender woman to run for Governor in the United States. Me running for office in Connecticut should be equality among the candidates not me being transgender to become national news. The regulation of LGBT employment discrimination in the United States varies by jurisdiction. Many, but far from all, States and localities prohibit bias in hiring, promotion, job assignment, termination, and compensation, as well as harassment on the basis of one's sexual orientation.
Trump's ban on transgender military service I don't agree with or should the administration focus on transgender health costs in the military are too expensive, when the cost is less than 1 plane ride to Florida on Airforce one. Anti-LGBTQ statements should be considered a stand against a community of great people that are human beings that pay taxes are Americans and deserve equal rights. Also I am not a person that will be an anti Trump individual and spend my life towards negative responses as many Democrats focus on. I am me have the right to vote for who i wish too, and I will ask for respect that i accepted that Trump is the President of the United States and I voted for him, and one day I may be the person that makes him respect us like never before. The message is all in the timing.
Throughout its history, America has symbolized equality of opportunity for people of all races, origins, religions and creeds, serving as a beacon of hope for anyone seeking a better life. However, despite its founding principles of equality and acceptance, the United States also has a long history of denying basic rights.
I will be there, represent the opposition and bring respect and honor to lead all the people of Connecticut.
from wikipedia:
Laws affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people vary greatly by country or territory—everything from legal recognition of same-sex marriage or other types of partnerships, to the death penalty as punishment for same-sex romantic/sexual activity or identity. Laws that affect LGBT people include, but are not limited to, the following:
sodomy laws that penalize consensual same-sex sexual activity, and age of consent laws that may impose higher ages for same-sex sexual activity
laws concerning the recognition of same-sex relationships, including same-sex marriage, civil unions, domestic partnerships, etc.
laws concerning LGBT parenting, including adoption by LGBT people
anti-discrimination laws in employment, housing, education, public accommodations, etc.
anti-bullying legislation to protect LGBT children in school
"bathroom bills" affecting access to sex-segregated facilities by transgender people
hate crime laws imposing enhanced criminal penalties for prejudice-motivated violence against LGBT people
laws concerning access to assisted reproductive technology
laws concerning access to sex reassignment surgery and hormone replacement therapy
legal recognition and accommodation of reassigned gender
laws related to sexual orientation and military service
laws regarding donation of blood by men who have sex with men
I am one of us, I am me, and I will do all I can do in my lifetime to make changes to help lead LGTBQ rights. Please know I respect the honor to do so. As a human being a woman and one day Governor, I will lead a State and the best community that made me family after my birth right family.
Corporate Small Business
I WILL SUPPORT GETTING SOLUTIONS:
To Support Connecticut based Corporate and Small Business & Manufacturing.
I offer over 22 years of being in Business in Connecticut including; a Greeting Card business, fashion and clothing, chocolate gourmet company, retail, construction & interior design, landscaping,
There are several ways I can turn our State finances around, while providing fresh new outsider ideas that many residents have agreed will bring the changes that are needed. With my background in business, not only do I understand a balance sheet, but better yet, I can put more money into your pockets. My economic and development plans will improve the lives of all our residents. No one being left behind, the time has come for a better future, and that time is now, today.
I will be a Governor that encourages growth and betterment of services in our State.
Women in Business. Women-owned businesses bring a vibrant pulse to our communities. I will be supportive of women opening new businesses in our State, and will support equality in the workforce and equal pay for employees.
Our Community. I want to see our cities growth in height and improve by rebuilding our urban inner cities, I want to see our towns have Community Gardens and Farms, create new business and see the value in vertical garden farming spaces that can grow alleviate food needs, encourage better nutrition and make it easily available for you and your family. I want to set new State standards that we can feed our own population without being dependent on imports from our 4 major growing areas in the usa. I would like to see us build new Community Centers, churches, and parks. We need to preserve our open space and natural resources while investing in our mains streets, to encourage business …small business prosperity in our downtown areas as well as protect our waterfront.
My concerns start when the State of Connecticut leaders should have fixed this before it happened, I would have.
GE buys land for 83 million from Procter and gamble and proposes to send 359 million to develop 12 acres. That was a win for Boston… Connecticut lost big on this one.
UTC investing 300 million in Brooklyn nyc cause of tax breaks. Surrounding states know that the state is weak and all our companies are being propositioned to move.
As Governor I will strengthen the relationships and conversations with our States CEOs to improve the last years of neglect to encourage new State investments and solutions to improve these corporate businesses. My phone will always be open to listen and bring new marketing to promote tourism and business that Connecticut isn't doing currently.
I will be a Governor that will market new business plans and TV commercials that tell the United States, Connecticut is open for business and we want you to come home and return again. Focus on what is already being done currently by other States, but instead Connecticut would do it to them like New York, Boston and other focused cities. I would be a Governor that is strong and bold to say New York City and Boston we are coming for your jobs.
I would want to repeal the Corporate Business Tax that in FY 1015-2016 collected $869,053,285. I would ask to do this to offer regulations change by investing into Connecticut and ask theses corporations to do so.
Small Business and Main Street needs a boost from the State to do more for them, I would repeal the Business Entity Tax that is FY 2015-2016 collected $6,638,031. Being in small business most of my life the biggest challenge isn't sales its the fixed bills like the State charging me to be in business in CT, , rent, insurance, utilities and employment minimum hourly rate. Obviously the State cant be run like a business but we can make sure businesses get started, grow and thrive to become long term business in Connecticut.
Businesses also need competitive rents districts that make towns in Connecticut not have one or two main landlords owning all the same street buildings that lock the rent prices because they own them all. When new businesses can move to other locations for cost savings, than they can thrive and attract more customers and businesses that in long term with help Connecticut;s business market.
Reach out to other business to make business work. Example, a company employed 48 people, but they could not expand due to space limitations. TD Bank provided a $5,000,000 SBA 7a term loan for leasehold improvements to their new facility and the. Department of Economic and Community benefited.
Professional, confidential, no-cost business advising. Receive comprehensive business advising to reach your goals and to overcome business challenges – from business planning to turnaround management.
Connecticut Economic Development Fund - Aims to help communities with non-traditional funding for small businesses. Bridgeport Innovation Center - An industrial and entrepreneurial incubator for small- and medium-sized businesses to thrive.
Entrepreneurship in Connecticut Resources available for Connecticut-based small businesses and entrepreneurs. There are thousands of young adults that want to go in business and experience the American way and I want to see our State offering the tools, resources, and knowledge to see new business ideas, marketing plans and the next big business to bloom in the State.
Manufacturing, Sikorsky, United technology, United Boat, GE, Black n Decker, Lego and so many more need the State relationships to bring more and bigger business to the United States. I will support the growth to build Connecticut and the world. Connecticut made works.
Also I would like to be involved in created new business in Connecticut that comes from or natural resources; example tree farms, vertical farming, winery s, and bio tech campuses would be a great interest of mine to have Connecticut expand into. The tourism business is our future as well, and I would turn the financials of Connecticut around from tourism development business.
It is time for The New Connecticut future and I will lead our State to bring the changes needed to the State to improve the quality of life for the people of Connecticut. Business is our heart and I love business in Connecticut.
Connecticut will be a Job's State again and lead the country with my leadership in business.
Environment Climate
First, the world is changing. I first became interested in public service after participating in cleanups on the nearby Branford River. I am a commissioner member of the Parks and Open space Commission and my dedicated volunteer service to the town of Branford for 4 years shows my respect and concerns to protect the environment and this passion will continue to the State of Connecticut.
Climate Change Abstract: Addressing climate change in Connecticut will present both challenges and opportunities. ... businesses, non-profits, and municipalities the opportunity to create, evolve, and maintain a sustainable environment, a robust economy, and a higher quality of life for current and future generations. The Impacts of Climate Change on Connecticut Agriculture, Infrastructure, Natural Resources and Public Health are a deep concern to me.
This adaptation plan presents strategies to address the climate change vulnerabilities for the built and natural environment, agriculture and public health in Connecticut. One suggestion for updating a Plan of Conservation and Development includes forming a permanent town and cities board or commissions to deal with coastal issues and climate change.
Connecticut's rising sea levels, coastal erosion, and river heights have changes and I will not ignore the truth that it is already happening. Major storms are pushing the limits on the State's people. Business and life get effected daily more and more these days than ever before.
In the States financial stability structuring I will do hope to protect funding to our State resources to protect our environment.
My goal to support:
Take action on climate change
Support DEEP(Department of Energy and Environmental Protection)
Climate change and Public Health
Environmental Sustainability
The Nature Conservatory
Land Trust preservation
Lake & River Protections
Coastal Resilience Plan
Beach & Dune Reintegration
There are several ways that built environment and infrastructure professionals can participate in the climate change adaptation planning process. First, these professionals may be called upon as content experts, helping to identify ways in which local infrastructure systems are vulnerable to climate change. Climate, Air, & Energy. CFE's Climate and Energy Program is dedicated to maintaining and enhancing Connecticut's leadership role in addressing climate change, tackling air pollution, and supporting sustainable communities and economies. Through coalitions, informal partnerships, and our role on the Governor's Council will be a source to act.
Climate Change Threats are Real - But the Solutions are Now.
Immigration
Where do I stand on Sanctuary Cities?
First ,No I don't SUPPORT Sanctuary Cities in Connecticut…
I will bring new legislation the bipartisan way to make Connecticut's "Dreamers" seek the path to become legal American citizens and remain in Connecticut,
I want to start path to citizenship processing faster than any other State.
Infastructure
I will Support Tolls in Connecticut but will require a lock box Transportation Fund to support our rebuilding of the State's Infastructure.
Tolls can be a potential 1 billion a year revenue to the State that we are missing out on in our current State financials.
Our State's current economy, budget and taxes has not been working for everyone. With costs of living is spiraling out of control and getting higher by the day, government needs to resist the urge to continue to impose more taxes, and our focus needs to be our budget., wasteful spending and I will say it Democrat's bad tax and budget increases.it needs to be balanced, balanced well, balanced now.
There are several ways I can turn our State finances around, while providing fresh new outsider ideas that many residents have agreed will bring the changes that are needed. Electronic Tolls at State borders is one of them. With my background in business, not only do I understand a balance sheet, construction and making money but better yet, I can put more money into your pockets of the residents of Connecticut. My economic and development plans will improve the lives of all our residents and will improve our revenue funding to bring funding to the Special Transportation Fund, being underfunded by Gov. Malloy. He should be ashamed of him self to allow the Transportation Fund to be depleted. YES Connecticut Governor Dan Malloy has passed the largest tax and budget increases on all of us. Lets move forward.
Businesses are closing, companies are moving out and population is decreasing … we have to stop bleeding our State immediately. Both parties must work together BI-PARTISAN and solution all the concerns. It may seem like a wish and a dream, but we CAN make it work, if we actually work together to find solutions. I have a bipartisan-designed plan that can balance our budget from new tourism plans that can be put in place upon my election, that if coupled with my energy, drive and determination, will work to bring Democrats, Republicans and Independents together to breathe new life into our current budget, bring it out of the red, and ultimately offer relief to our residents.
We need a budget with no raises, no new taxes and no backroom deals. Tax increases are on autopilot and I the State of Connecticut needs money. Private Public Partnerships, Infrastructure funding is necessary from Federal, State and local. Private developers will invest as well as Connecticut wealthiest are ready too.
Pass a bill:
Tolls
Transportation Fund (lock box only)
I would only support a toll bill if it only includes the lock box, electronic tolls at state border towns, airports exits and ferry s inbound.( I would also like a Connecticut based business tax credit to businesses transporting over state lines CT only)
Electronic Tolls in 8 towns: 1-95 Greenwich and North Stonington, I-84 Danbury and Union, I395 Thompson , other State entry points at North Canaan, Putnam and Killingly Connecticut. ( Uncasville points of interest towns)
I would not increase the Gas Tax, I would agree to repeal % to get tolls passed. The current Gas Tax should fund the State, but the current administration and legislators abuse it on the out of control State spending.
Tolls are the Connecticut's future and we are the only state in the Tri-State without them, a billion dollar potential revenue to the State.
Together we can build a new economy, infrastructure bill funding, and start rebuilding Connecticut. We must keep people accountable and giving us all a fair shake at making a better life. Together we can encourage new job growth by providing fewer regulations. Jobs that last as a result of our better business practices. New thinking is here with me, less demand on taxes and start something new allowing people to grow their businesses in our State.
Our Bridges, roads, waterways, trains, and crumbling infrastructure needs money, Funding the state promises but doesn't invest into. The State is based on commuting and we cant allow in the age of technology and history to ignore rebuilding the infrastructure of America as well as the State of Connecticut. I tell many that I will ask Guy Smith , a fellow candidate to revamp the entire DOT for me and I want our State to be doing and showing what tax dollars are going to from our Transportation fund.
We need to work with Federal legislators to bring back Federal funding even if it is 20% to rebuild Connecticut, and we need to ask private and public to invest into Connecticut and rebuild like we never built before. I been in construction for most of my life and we need a Governor that knows construction a realistic construction plan and get it built on-time and on budget.
Hundreds of developments are sitting on my desk in my office and ready for investors real estate developers and State cooperation to build the State.
No Governor should run a State that you deplete a Transportation Fund or Education. Connecticut Infrastructure Overview. While the nation’s infrastructure earned a “D+” in the 2017 Infrastructure Report Card, Connecticut faces infrastructure challenges of its own. For example, driving on roads in need of repair in Connecticut costs each driver $864 per year. Critical infrastructure can include wastewater treatment plants, power stations, transportation networks, hospitals, etc. Connecticut's recent history has demonstrated that critical infrastructure of all types can be extremely vulnerable to the impacts of climate change and severe weather. “If Connecticut does not take the necessary action to allow us to restart these vital projects, not only will it put the state's infrastructure into a further state of disrepair, it will hurt our economy,” Connecticut's infrastructure projects are in jeopardy after revenue that helps pay off the state's transportation debt has decreased and additional funding sources have not yet been identified. We are not in a place within our State to be able to cut 4.3 billion worth of Transportation projects.
The State of Connecticut needs money and spending needs to be stopped on wasteful wishes and dreams of legislators personal wants.
I will be a Governor that will say New York City and Boston we are coming for your jobs and Florida we are coming for your Tourism dollars because we nee a new leader to be tough to get the State turned around and bring us a New Connecticut Future.
The building of my tourism developments with private and public funding not State we will turn Connecticut from a tax its people by 17.3 billion revenue source to a new 89.1 billion tourism based State tax revenue, not based on taxing its residents and citizens. The Nut Meg Resort and the Twin Harbor International Airport are the States New Connecticut Future and State funding generators to turn Connecticut around and rebuild the State. see my story video on home page to learn more.
TOLLS ARE CONNECTICUT'S FUTURE... BE REALISTIC BUT REBUILDING OUR STATE INFRASTRUCTURE IS OUR NEW WAY OF BUSINESS
Mental Health
I WILL SUPPORT GETTING SOLUTIONS:
On Mental Health Reform.
First, I have thought hard about Mental Health as its a topic that makes the legislators nervous, and it should not.
PTSD (Military) All are important to me.
Poverty Welfare
I WILL SUPPORT GETTING SOLUTIONS:
To Support the elimination of poverty.
I will also support citizens of Connecticut that are in need for State Aid and Welfare.
I will also support to end citizens Welfare abuse and unfairness spending acts of State Aid Funding.
Crime
Yes it's true Connecticut has a crime problem. Crime and “Dope” is everywhere. Drug control, Opioid, Heroin and a list of others needs to be addressed. First you have to admit we have a problem...you hear the media talk about it, but the legislators do little about it because as many other real problems, they want to tax the unnecessary groups and services that are not taxed, and focus too much time on it.
To bring solutions to this issue I would want to know the knowledge of each Police Chief from our cities and towns as well as, the State Police to do something that has not been done before. We need to be original and lead the State to make this issue not affect the amount of great families, moms, dads, grandparents, sisters and brothers that have a story that we cant forget. Memorials are forever and this problem is propriety as Governor.
Our cities should not be our problem cities but our opportunity cites. Young adults are finding crime a way of life than school and a job. Stealing cars and killing themselves and others isn't making a positive State, but a State that has a shady background among its wealthy and educated. Yale is surrounded by the crime of the city of New Haven for example. Greenwich to Stamford, and West Hartford to Hartford. We as leaders need to bring change , new ways of jobs life and bring a troubled individual that is considered dangerous out of a negative way of life. Go to the issue: Gun Control to see what I have to say more about this.
Murder and manslaughter also climbed nationwide by 10.8 percent between 2014 and 2015. In that period, the estimated number of violent crime offenses increased 3.9 percent to 1.2 million. In Connecticut, crime decreases included rape (2.6 percent), robberies (8.8 percent), and aggravated assaults (10.1 percent). This drop in crime was about 6.7%. The eight major crimes reported to the FBI in the U.S. are murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny, automobile theft, and arson. Overall, these types of violent crimes are decreasing in Connecticut. There were 8,123 violent crimes in Connecticut in 2015, up 2.3 percent from 7,938. The violent crime rate was 227 per 100,000 residents in Connecticut, compared with a rate of 397 per 100,000 nationwide.
There are many things as Governor we want to be proud of about the State of Connecticut, but crime isn't our first we market in our campaign ads, but we inherit it. We as a leaders need to stand up to Crime and offer more than a line item in a budget. This issue we can attack and step in and hire more State offices, Police Officers and Detectives and investigators and bring the resources that the cites and town are requiring from us.
Tolls
I will Support Tolls in Connecticut
It is a 1 billion a year revenue to the State that we are missing out on in our financials.
NO TOLLS. NO TOLLS. NO TOLLS.. I get it… it Republican's Tolls annoy people.
So lets together build it right and pass a bill that is Bipartisan. Remember I am a person that will work a compromise deal to get you what you want. I will cut taxes to do so. Promise.
Fairness. Honesty. Community. These are values that so many of us have grown up with and share. These are now values that our State’s government has lost sight of.
There are several ways I can turn our State finances around through reinvestment real estate projects in Connecticut, new business growth, tourism and a taxation from electronic tolls. I would do is bring tolls back to Connecticut in certain towns that focus on the borders. I will bring responds to addressing federal law that questions the lost to the State of 225 million federal funding if we do get tolls passed by legislation, while providing fresh new outsider ideas that many residents have agreed will bring the changes that are needed. Electronic Tolls at State borders is one of them. With my background in business, not only do I understand a balance sheet, construction and making money but better yet, I can put more money into your pockets of the residents of Connecticut. TOLLS ARE CONNECTICUT'S FUTURE... BE REALISTIC
Crumbling Foundations
I WILL SUPPORT GETTING SOLUTIONS
I support Tim Heim, president of the Connecticut Coalition Against Crumbling Basements. Connecticut Gubernatorial Candidate Jacey Wyatt supports solutions and is willing to meet with homeowners of failing concrete foundations. Homeowners struggling with the issue for the past few years, need solutions immediately and I am willing to take a hard look at the problem and expedite financial solutions for victims it is a priority to me and will be till every home owner’s house is rebuilt. You have my commitment through this if I am a candidate or citizen, as I am willing to be the voice for the victims and will be someone who puts failing foundations high on my list of priorities.
I will ask many to join us together as this is a top priority in the new plans I am proposing... it is a shame how Connecticut Governor Dan Malloy and others in his grasp are doing turtle pace steps or little to not fix this big problem... its people’s lives and their homes at stake here. The answers are right in front of the State in a real estate finance solution that needs less talk and 100% solutions today! Let me please tell you how I would together with the State bring solutions to everyone in this terrible disaster.
As many as 34,130 homes are at risk for failing foundations residents are experiencing fissures in the foundations of their homes, essentially rendering them unsafe and uninhabitable. At least 500 homeowners in 23 towns have filed complaints with the state Department of Consumer Protection alleging that their concrete foundations are failing, according to state reports. The resident’s homes and lives are grossly affected by these crumbling foundations, and Governor Malloy’s quicksand steps are not bringing the solutions that the residents experiencing this disastrous happening need right now.
Please know that if I become the next Governor, Tim Heim has my strong commitment and I will play a strong leadership role in coming up with financial resolutions for homeowners.
The state has to step up immediately for these people. Insurance companies have denied homeowners' claims, saying the problem does not qualify for coverage under their definition of collapse, leaving homeowners to bear the burden of a costly foundation replacement. The cost to replace a foundation can be as much as $200,000. A mineral known as pyrrhotite was present in the concrete aggregate used for the foundations that are now crumbling, and was partly to blame, as was the amount of water used in installation.
These are not solutions they are just more Hartford pushing it along for failing to address this problem in the first place, because they all ignored it. Several solutions from the State are $5 million for testing foundations and a grant program to fund up to $150,000 or 75 percent of the cost to replace a crumbling foundation administered by the Capitol Region Council of Governments. Legislators also proposed a $12 surcharge on certain property insurance policies in the state that would go into the assistance fund. Ask the homeowners if any of these are making their foundations get built or fixed? No!
I come from a construction business background and this 6.8 billion dollar State disaster will never come to a state budget line… quote me, unless I become Governor. The homeowners need construction deals, a schedule that lists over 2000 homes a year being rebuilt and under construction, a state insurance company to risk pool the construction costs and get reimbursed after construction from State. The most important step is the State needs to become the Developer in this project and negotiate the construction rates, bid the contracts, remove regulations, and expedite permits.
I wholeheartedly support Tim Heim (and the other residents involved) regarding the necessary actions that need to be taken now to save their homes from being reduced to rubble. We should have the state reach out to every municipality in the affected area and use state funds to pay for building inspectors to identify affected homes. There are real estate finance solutions that can aid these residents in making their homes safe and structurally sound again. I can work through the State to bring resolution to these matters. It requires a statewide solution. ... I will make this a top priority and so should the State elected officials that are in office today or they will be voted out in upcoming elections.
We don’t need lawyers and legislators to fix this they are all talk, we need Habitat For Humanity organization or let me start a new State Agency/ Department to be this habitat for crumbling foundations group to help the owners.
Home owners of Crumbling Foundations in northeastern Connecticut deserve construction actions from the State. For decades the State spent the money it never had and didn't worry about how it would pay for it later... So what happen did the State just get morals? We are living in a State of broken promises.
This is a 7 billion dollar disaster in Connecticut that is my priority. I will support and offer daily assistance to get homes re-built, moved and funded.
Animal Rights
I WILL SUPPORT GETTING SOLUTIONS FOR ANIMAL RIGHTS:
I am writing to you to get your view on animal rights laws in the state of CT. I would like to know how you stand on certain animal issues. what is your position on tightening up our laws when it is related to animals, abuse, neglect, dog fighting, puppy mills etc. I would like to know if you plan on making any moves to secure higher penalties for animal abuse etc?
That is a great question, Animal rights and animal cruelty are something that should be more widely discussed, as most times people defer to current law, but neglect to enforce it except in instances of extreme cruelty and only where it is actually reported and followed up on.
Current Connecticut Law carries some fairly stiff penalties. A first offense is punishable by up to $1,000 fine or imprisonment for up to one year, or both, and each subsequent offense is punishable by a fine of up to $5,000 or imprisonment up to five years, or both.
The law, in part reads:
“Connecticut law defines “animals” as all brute creatures and birds. CGS 53-247(a), as amended by PA 12-86, prohibits people from over driving, overloading, overworking, torturing, depriving of substance, mutilating, cruelly beating or killing, or unjustifiably injuring any animal. If impounding or confining an animal, it prohibits:
-Failing to provide it proper care
-Neglecting to cage or restrain it from injuring itself or another animal
-Failing to supply it with wholesome air, food and water
The statute also bans unjustifiably administering or exposing a domestic animal to any poisonous or noxious drug or substance intending that the animal will take it. Individuals in custody of an animal may not act cruelly to it; fail to provide it with proper food, drink or shelter, abandon it; or carry or cause it to be carried in a cruel manner. Fighting with or baiting, harassing, or worrying an animal to make it perform for amusement, diversion, or exhibition is also prohibited. A first offense is punishable by a fine of up to $1,000, imprisonment for up to one year, or both. Each subsequent offence is punishable by a fine of up to $5,000, imprisonment for up to five years, or both. Under CGS 53-247(b), maliciously and intentionally maiming, mutilating, torturing, wounding, or killing an animal is punishable by a fine of up to $5,000, up to five years imprisonment, or both.”
These are the general hardline penalties given under Connecticut law, however, given the heinous nature of any act of cruelty to any animal, I may be willing to reexamine fines and penalties with regard to acts of animal cruelty.
There should be no wiggle room when it comes to acts of cruelty, period, full stop. Any individual willing to commit said horrible acts may very well be willing to commit crimes against a person as well, and neither should be tolerated. Abuse is abuse, and murder is murder. Any person willing to do harm to another creature or person needs to be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law...and if the laws need toughening up, then this would need to be reexamined and revamped.
Domestic animals in general put their trust in their human companions to love, care for and show them compassion and companionship, they in turn give their undying unconditional love.
I would be willing to confer with animal rights activists and individuals who run shelters as well as the public, to try to more fully understand what steps should be taken to better combat acts of animal cruelty, and make more informed decisions as to whether our current law needs to be toughened up or if it's more a matter of enforcement.
As there are many facets to animal rights issues I am willing to explore any new avenues that would work to solve this and the underlying accompanying issues that can go hand-in-hand with this. I am against puppy mills and would do what I can to ban them.
Animal cruelty cannot and should not be tolerated or put aside. I welcome open discussions on how we should work to combat animal rights issues.
First 5 Tax Law
We are a small State but have a big business location, we are coming to a new way of business in CT and a budget deficit that is the largest in history in the State and a financial crisis from bad Democrat policies and choices. Connecticut's new business future needs to be looked at with new eyes and offer new ideas from a new Democrat like myself, with a business /construction background of 22 years of business and an outsider to Hartford politics to say its time to change the State and not keep offering incentive programs to corporate and businesses that relocate or operate in Connecticut.
Connecticut should be the desired place to be and do business in America, by doing nothing more than being a well lead State with financials to prove it despite being in the right location in the Country to do business.
Job creations is accomplished by being smart to profit and hire. The Companies we are giving millions to start a business will not work in the future of Connecticut. The wealthy, the CEOS, Companies in and out of CT are established and smart enough to profit and hire and can grow from the State offering tax relief and market growth.
Recently Mass Mutual was given 46 million to move to Massachusetts, so i guess business is good in the State of Massachusetts to have millions in funding to give incentives to a companies to move. Mass mutual earned 1.6 billion in that year and can afford the move with no incentive.
Governor Malloy signed the bill into law on July 8, 2011. First Five augments and combines the state's best incentive and tax credit programs to encourage job creation. In addition to the incentives based on the creation of the first 200 new full-time jobs within Connecticut, businesses would continue to receive credits.
First Five Plus Program Overview. August 2016. Total Businesses Participating. 13. State Direct Assistance. Source: Manufacturing Assistance Act Funds. $256,600,000. Tax Credits. Source: Urban and Industrial Sites Reinvestment (URA) Tax Credits. $125,000,000. Total Jobs Retained. 13,349. Minimum New Jobs.
As many know, as Governor, 100% of everything that D.Malloy has done i will repeal, destruct, bring in new facts and audit numbers, and executive order his legacy out, to move Connecticut in a whole different direction. I will not continue in his path of Governing this State and I will not continue the his First 5 Tax law.
Drug Control
Yes it's true Connecticut has a drug problem. “Dope” is everywhere. Drug control, Opioid, Heroin and a list of others needs to be addressed as Mental Health issue and Drug Control or lack of it. First you have to admit we have a problem...you hear the media talk about it, but the legislators do little about it because as many other real problems, they want to tax the unnecessary groups and services that are not taxed, and focus too much time on it.
The Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) works to reduce drug use and its consequences by leading and coordinating the development, implementation, and assessment of U.S. drug policy. The drug control division works to protect the health and safety of Connecticut residents by regulating all persons and firms involved in the distribution of all legal drugs, medical devices and cosmetics in Connecticut. the division oversees Connecticut licensing for pharmacies, pharmacists, controlled substance providers.
The Drug Control compliance and enforcement should be part of the Governor's priorities and stay strong to get drugs out of our State. I have always been in support to hire more State and local police, resource detectives, and investigators to be a force twice the size we have now and clean up our cities and borders.
Current 2018 US Death Toll:
Alcohol 12,553
Suicide 5,369
Drunk Driving 4,244
All Drug Abuse 3,139
Prescription Drugs 1,883
Overdose ... The outcomes of drug control programs in other states and countries including at least one study of the medicalization of the drug laws and the effect that these programs have had on crime, welfare, and substance abuse. Set tougher standards to Medical prescriptions. ct controlled substance laws, Connecticut All Drugs Arrests ... Set categories to provide more specific data on arrests for different types of controlled substances: 1) Opium and Cocaine and their derivatives (such as Crack, Morphine, Heroin); 2) Marijuana;
Affordable Housing
Where do I stand on AFFORDABLE & LOW INCOME HOUSING?
First ,YES I SUPPORT Affordable Housing in Connecticut…
The Affordable housing issue is a divided issue where you live in the State of Connecticut, but I am not divided, I will stand strong on this Issue to build more and create new programs that can be passed and approved through the General Assembly to get years of lacking to do so passed. I will make sure my new ideas and construction standards are reunited with private and public funding to build new developments of Affordable and low income housing. There are many development companies in the Country that are in this business and I will call them and put the shovel ready building sites developments already in construction drawings in their hands to get new affordable housing built. I will make sure I re-introduce Economic Development Areas, state owned land sites, and great needed areas, and I will also put action to place Affordable housing developments in each 169 town and cites throughout the State.
One program “Times up Housing” will be based upon my priorities to request each town and cities building departments to start a database of all residences that are new construction, rebuild able, age limited, and tear down. A new list after inspections of each building in Connecticut that will then be labeled approved or denied to the quality of life and standards conditions of acceptance if a building/apartment/ condo is up to code, ADA compliant, and acceptable living. My goal is to find all places and buildings not acceptable in Connecticut that residents are being asked to live in are considered residential multi family livable. As Governor I will step up, set new standards to improve the quality of life of all the people in Connecticut. Also be clear I will notify the public that no one should live in less than fair condition residences in our State.
We need your help to make the committee members aware of the issue and how it affects housing and people that can not afford to live in Connecticut. Affordable and low incoming housing to me is a piece of the puzzle to rebuild Connecticut as it is the future.
I will take resident's complaints and proactively deal with their crime related problem until it is resolved. For community meeting and know I will listen to these concerns. While cleaning up crime, we learned that the slumlords that provide housing need to be stopped and the State can and with me as Governor I will bring an end to bad conditions to live in around the State.
Next all these as well will be addressed and offer solutions:
CONNECTICUT HOUSING FINANCE AUTHORITY; ELDERLY; HANDICAPPED; HOUSING FINANCE; STATE AID;SECTION 8 HOUSING, AND HUD. State needs to utilize its STATE RIGHTS and EMINENT DOMAIN economic development rights and purchasing power to acquire land and selling of State land. I would.
State law establishes a housing authority in every municipality where there is a need. A municipality must find that there is a specific need for a housing authority and authorize its existence, which allows the housing authority to operate. The law provides the housing authority with various powers, including the power to enter into contracts; make and repeal bylaws, rules, and regulations; and investigate housing conditions and the ways to improve those conditions in its area of operation.
Lawmakers have an opportunity — for a second time — to ease this problem. ... House Republicans shouldn't stand in the way. ... With a growing waiting list of seniors seeking safe, affordable housing in Connecticut, they must vote for a new system to issue bonds so they can overcome the Governor's Affordable Housing Plans.
Everyone in Connecticut deserves a safe, healthy, and affordable place to call home —and the lack of safe and affordable housing is one of the most pressing issues facing our cities and towns. Although my plan for Connecticut's booming economy will bring great benefits, there are too few homes—especially affordable homes being built in our State. This will be changed.
Thank you,
Jacey Wyatt
Democrat Candidate for Governor
I am Jacey Wyatt Candidate for Governor of Connecticut and I approve this message.
Sample new plans to what Affordable housing will look like under Jacey Wyatt as Governor:
Yes Affordable Low income housing residences on golf courses with community pools and safe neighborhood lifestyle, Well landscaped developments and built structures. We need to live in the future and build quality for all the people of Connecticut. Construction cost based with Average rents at $750 a month to home purchases starting at $150,000. Time share economics. Equal Opportunity Housing.
Legalization of Rec. Marijuana
Yes it's true Connecticut has a drug problem. “Dope” everywhere.
I am at first a no, since I don't see this being a positive law to bring to the State image. I have listened to hundreds of thousand of people around the State, I am open minded to listen to consider it, and I would like to be a maybe at this time in my life, for it to be a yes I will need to come to that conclusion on my own. Many points that I listened to are not changing my mind. And more and more I still am a maybe, but I would not support the Legalization of Recreational Marijuana. But again that is my personal opinion, and I would not be a supporter to the conversation as I am still staying neutral, but I would say if the General Assembly both House and Senate pass it and it is put on my desk as law, i would sign it as Governor.
Medical Marijuana is in place in Connecticut and we can look at lowering the approval card rate, doctors costs and dispensaries fees to make it more affordable and accessible for one to be on the program, as today that is a source to legal possession available in the State. Farming for Medical locations is an option to taxation.
It is an apples to oranges comparison on revenue as stated the potential 200 million a year isn't enough to compare to tourism that can produce 89 billion a year to Connecticut or tolls at 1 billion.
I would like to be treated with respect and honor and ask supporters to not harass, insult, threaten and stalk me to think one day you can change my mind or a flick harm towards me. I would say that I would like possession to not be a crime. As we need more room in our jails and judicial system for criminals.
I would also want a solution or law that no product clothing, purse etc can be returned if they smells like marijuana, the business should have State Statue Law to back up the massive amount of returns that are un-sellable again from the bad smell and destruction of retail products that this drug corrupts.[19]
