|I am Dakinya Jefferson , but my friends call me Kinya . I am from a twin city that's Twice As Nice ,called Texarkana , but currently reside in the Dallas Metro. I am the mother of one child, a son; his name is Champion . I take great pride in being a recent High School graduate of the Higher Heights Adult Academy. As a self employed business woman I've had the privilege's of being a caretaker, and giver of numerous forms of personal service. I am a natural born lover of people , God and country. Having great experience in ministering to the needs of others ,I've often involved myself in community service. I take the lead in finding solutions and bringing people together. I am the peacemaker.
I naturally look out for others and am often found talking for, fighting for, and finding solutions for others and their problems; it comes natural for me. I meet no strangers. I have also been the clean up woman; unafraid of messes, I clean up ! I get things done! Additionally I have worked as an armed security Officer so I am very familiar with observing, detecting, deterring, and reporting situations, so as a congress woman I will do the same.
I have a special concern for policy pertaining to the elderly and mentally challenged being properly cared for. I also have a vested interest in prison reform and proper education of our children. I just got my high school education and I am from the era of " NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND", yet many have been left behind. No excessive taxation without representation. We need United States Constitutional educational programs to empower " we the people" and we need job training programs catering to the millennial times. College should be a paid extension of High school. I am for equality of life equal for men and women and believe babies have the right to life. Many things are in need of reform and I certainly want these issues addressed. All working Americans should be able to eat a decent meal everyday ! Save the planet lets look at impact of global warming.
I look to my mother because she has always been a person to persevere. I have seen her advance through many hard trials and struggles as being a single teenage mother of many then married mother of more with me being her second of ten. I can recall mama saying one more baby means a few more beans in the pot. As I watched her share the beans we had with others. I look at her as a Harriet Tubman underground railroad women always trying to figure out how to save the world or free somebody. Always trying to help with the little bit that she has. I watched my mother run for mayor while on welfare at 24 with 6 kids trying to make a difference in her life and others. I watched her open up a HOPE Mission feeding people out of her own pocket. I then knew that regardless of my short comings , because I came from a young, strong, caring, smart, Yah fearing woman, that I too had the same seed and blood running through my veins. I am ready to make the dreams she had held to and strived for all these many years, happen through me. Representing housing, feeding, showing care and consideration, giving hugs and education, love and Yah to all who cross my path. This is why I admire my mom. She helped me see that I was born a people person always caring for people. She always said I was born to make the world a better place.
The Bible, The Constitution, and Think and grow rich. When we put our fellowman in a seat equal to our own selves then shall be all have a place at the American seat of prosperity eating from the table of riches we have been grated as a whole.
They they have ears which listen to the people who elect them and that a genuine concern for the people one serves be in the heart ( mind ) of the public servants elected. Effective communication and negotiation skills are a plus and being the peacemaker , an added plus.
I am very personable, an effective communicator and bold at speaking up for and always ready to defend the right, the needy and any who has need. I have the quality of really caring about people and I have a mother who holds me accountable whom I always look to mimic and make proud. I want the people who elect me to be proud they did and glad. Mighty glad.
Th remember we are here to serve the people and understand that it is the people who place us here, whom we work for, and serve. Our core responsibility is to serve the people to the best of our ability. To do that we must listen to the people and take to heart what say they before we render any votes or propose passage of bills or set budgets.
That I cam to this seat, listened to the people and initiated recourses which had not only make our district a greater place but a coveted place to live in because Dakinya Jefferson came and paved the path and shined the light on how all in the districted have always been the change we could believe in. I want the legacy to be told that Dakinya knocked every door like our very lives depended on it and told each and every one, like the sounding of an alarm, to Wake Up ! Wise Up ! Rise Up ! and Take Your Power Back ! I want the Legacy to read ," and they did". I want it to be said that those who were too deaf or blind to hear, that she pulled them out the windows and doors with the help of her brothers and sisters, fellow Americans, to a place of safety by her doings many were relieved, refreshed and save to see a brighter day.
The associated press picked up news story of my father about to be the 300th person executed on Texas Death Row but the Supreme court gave indefinite stay and another took his place as the 300th executed. It was March 12, 2003.His name is Delma Banks Jr. I was 24 years old. I am glad to say that the almighty Yah sparred my father's life and I am thankful that the hearts of the justices were softened to hear his plea for he was and remains innocent of the crime supposedly committed.
Sonic Drive In as a car hop. I was 16. I think maybe 6months
Bible because I believe it guides to many keys which unfolds the marvelous mystery of life. The words of the pages and characters have a way of coming alive within one's very being. It's words bring light, love, joy, and hope beyond this life. All should give it a read through at least once in their lifetime.
Ask me later ; I have to give some thought to it cause I really enjoy being who I am.
Get Up Off Of That Thang and I'll Always BE Grateful
Getting an education. I come from the era of no child left behind yet I was left behind. I am a recent High School graduate. I have always possessed intelligence and natural gift for gab and recall but the educational system , as was set up, failed me. I have a mind to reach for other now grown and extend a true hand up to educational opportunities which will make for lives being bettered for the generations to come. I consider myself blessed because I have always realized there is always someone who is worse off than me .thus, I learned to be grateful but ever reaching for higher heights. When I found Higher Heights adult high school, I obtained my diploma. Now I am walking on to the path of my hopeful chosen career of continuing to help people. When I am voted in by the people , I will render great service cause I like a job well done and I don't half step at working. I take pride in what I do.
People from all walks of life have the awesome opportunity to bring their collective thoughts together to work together for the good of all the people of America. We need every one to enter these offices to have a true heart of a servant so they will truly serve the people of the various didtricts.
No, it is important that the people who fill these seats have the heart of a servant and nor lords so they may maintain understanding of the role they play which is to represent. The people should always be involved in the decision making process. Since the constitution was written for and by the people so everyday people from all walks of life should always have a welcome seat in the US House. It is a fable which too many have believed to be true, that one must be a lawyer, Degreed College Graduates or previous politician to represent in congress.
All people, both young , old, rich, poor, should have a voice that speaks to their life truths. FYI Previous experience does not exist without first hopping in an arena to gain first experience. We need fresh blood , new renewed, spirit. We need Dakinya For Congress To show us how to Wake Up ! Wise Up ! Rise Up ! and take power back to the people.
Learning how not to be divided. As long as we behave as if we are not one nation under God indivisible with Liberty and Justice for all, we can never reconcile our past and look forward to a bright future. True Democracy and Republicanism does not come by merely being loyal to a political party; it comes through being loyal to one another as a nation of people who are one.
Secondary is the National debt, inflation, immigration issues, healthcare, and global warming. Third we need to encourage the young to see and understand a need to sow into their future through a proper work ethic and the middle aged to have a willingness to assist the youth in being strong for one day we all will , hopefully, grow old and need to have a well maintained Social Security system in place. Last but not least the children are the future we need to invest in more than just standard school education we need to invest in teaching ethics and benefits of community.
I will gladly sit on any committee inclusive of ways & means and environmental and scientific . Economics can play no role and people can not survive if the earth is destroyed. I'd also sit on a committee dealing with world peace so I could serve as peacemaker and unifier.
Yes because it gives the voters enough time to see if the candidate id doing the job they are voted in to do and will afford time to pull the person out and replace like on any other job where the worker is not fitting the bill/
Free people can elect whomever they want for as long as they want .There should be no term limitations because the same people who vote in can vote out.
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
When you see that person or hear them speak , one should know or be able to believe that they genuinely care about people. They should exude care. They should be friendly and approachable. They must be servants or else they can not truly be a representative for people. They should be honest and possess integrity with an ability to speak to people from all walks of life. The must have a take charge go get it attitude that will get things done.
No, because I plan to set the bar on what a representative should do and be. I am not here to be like someone else I am here to be Dakinya, the worker for the people. That being said, If I had to model one, the only one I would replicate would be the Yahshuah (aka Jesus ) who represented the Father, Yah ( aka GOD ). I would utilize all his teachings and ways to show how to have true good will one towards the other. Self sacrificing was his model. Too few in political offices today show a willingness to self sacrifice for the good of all mankind. Love , understanding and old fashioned kindness should be a part of service. We all could stand to learn to treat others as we want to be treated and give consideration to the ill plight of others less fortunate than ourselves
Yes, one did and still does today. It rings as a story of many. A veteran who appears to be about 69 and served in the armed forces was and is still living on the streets of Dallas as a homeless person. Not because he wants or choses to , but because our laws have made it hard for him to just get a simple ID. There is no proper provision in place to house the numerous Veterans who are disabled and homeless. It is shameful that we send billions across the seas ,yet those who served our nation have no place to lay their heads to even dream about a possibility of having an American Dream. I see too many disabled, veterans, mentally challenged and elderly laying on the streets and grounds of our great , prosperous state of Texas and nation at large.
The poor cannot afford housing or food. It is a human right to have a home, food, clothing and medical care. They were all once children with dreams. We must help them believe in dreams once again. Too many uneducated who were left behind from the no child left behind era; we need our people educated . Too many are disenfranchised from so many sectors of our society. If the constitution was written for and by the people we should make sure it is working for all of the people of these United ( divided ) States of America starting with Texas , District 30.
Don't really have a favorite. I'd rather socialize than tell jokes but I like listening to comedians.
I would make sure to propose bills to allocate funding or redirect funding to places which will truly benefit the people. It is a top priority for me to make sure the homeless are housed and that the American Dream of affordable housing / Home ownership is within reach for all Americans who so desire to have it. A working America is a prosperous America. Every able bodied working American should be assured of possession of food security for him/herself and family. Also health care for the poor who lack proper benefits must be secured with dental and vision added. There is absolutely no reason for poverty to be allowed when it in in our power to aide Americans, first.
