Dundee Town Charter Amendment (April 2012)

From Ballotpedia - Reading time: 2 min

A Dundee Town Charter Amendment measure was on the April 3, 2012 ballot in the town of Dundee which is in Polk County.

This measure was approved

  • YES 352 Approveda
  • NO 126[1]

This measures sought to change the name of the town council to Town Commission.

There were two other amendments proposed, but they were ultimately taken off the ballot. The other two measures were to extend council terms to four years, and to make it that council terms would only be able to be changed through a vote by residents. The council had attempted to extend their term as they have the power, but ultimately the extension was defeated and other members noted that it seemed as if they were bypassing the charter by not allowing residents to vote on term limits. So the first two measures were placed on the ballot by the council.[2]
