Ebony Murphy was a potential candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut in the 2014 elections.[1][2]
A Connecticut native, Murphy earned her B.A. in English and African American studies in 2004. She went on to earn her M.A. in secondary education focusing on curriculum and instruction in 2010. She is also a 2012 graduate of the Women's Campaign School at Yale.[3]
Murphy has taught humanities at a middle school in New York City. She previously taught at Watkinson School, Capital Community College and as a volunteer instructor for Charter Oak Cultural Center’s B.O.T.S. Center for Creative Learning, which offers free classes for Hartford’s homeless community.[3]
Murphy was a potential minor party candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut. Her gubernatorial running mate was former Democratic state Rep. Jonathan Pelto. The general election took place on November 4, 2014.
