Mario Salinas is the superintendent of the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District. Garza was appointed superintendent in February 2021. Salinas' previous career experience includes working in various roles with Edinburg CISD, including as the district's assistant superintendent for support services and as a teacher, coach assistant principal, and principal.[1][2]

Past superintendents[edit]

  • Gilbert Garza, Jr., is the interim superintendent of the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District. Garza was appointed interim superintendent on June 25, 2019. Garza's previous career experience includes working as the district's full superintendent, an elementary school math teacher, and a principal.[3]
  • René Gutiérrez was the superintendent of the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District from 2009 to 2019. Gutiérrez's previous career experience included working as a teacher and administrator.[4][5]

Members of the board are elected biennially in November to overlapping four-year terms.[6]
