    Fall River County is one of four counties located within the South Dakota Seventh Judicial Circuit. The people of Fall River County are served by a circuit court and a magistrate court.

    The United States District Court for the District of South Dakota has jurisdiction in Fall River County. Appeals from the District of South Dakota go to the United States Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit.[1]

    Primary election[edit]

    If more than two candidates are running for a circuit court seat, they compete in the primary election. The two candidates who receive the most votes advance to the general election.[1]
