The county government of Ada County is located in Boise, Idaho. The county was established in 1864. It covers a total of 1,054.99 square miles in southwest Idaho.[1]

Ada County, Idaho, is holding general elections for assessor, clerk, coroner, sheriff, treasurer, county commissioners, highway district board, community college board, conservation district board, and district court magistrate judges on November 8, 2022. A primary is scheduled for May 17, 2022. The filing deadline for this election was March 11, 2022.
2020[edit]
Ada County, Idaho, held general elections for commissioner seats 1 and 2, sheriff, and prosecutor on November 3, 2020. A primary was scheduled for May 19, 2020. The filing deadline for this election was March 13, 2020. Ada County also held a general election for highway districts 1, 2, and 5, a general election for three college district seats, and a general retention election for 14 magistrate judges on November 3, 2020. The filing deadline for these elections was August 5, 2020.
2018[edit]
Ada County, Idaho, held general elections for county commissioner, district court clerk, county treasurer, county assessor, county coroner, county highway district commissioner, and College of Western Idaho trustee on November 6, 2018. If a race had multiple candidates for a party nomination, a primary was held on June 5, 2018.

The board of commissioners functions as the county's primary legislative and policy-making body. Most boards also control county land usage, oversee environmental issues and possess executive powers, meaning they have the authority to appoint or remove departmental heads.
