Political courage test[edit]

English's answers to the Arkansas State Legislative Election 2008 Political Courage Test are provided. The test informs voters how a candidate would vote on the issues if elected. When asked his legislative priorities she replied:

"Economic development and good jobs, a rise in the income level, fewer folks on Medicaid, fewer high school drop outs, and lower prison population require an integrated education and workforce training system that meets the skill needs of business and industry. I will propose legislation to identify all education/workforce training dollars, federal and state, and the positive or negative results of every program. I will also propose legislation to establish a commission made up of members of business and industry that will work to identify the skill gaps and recommend system instructional programs."[1]

Scorecards[edit]

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Arkansas

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
