Incumbent Elizabeth Esty (D) defeated Clay Cope (R), Stephanie Piddock (I), and John Pistone (I) in the general election on November 8, 2016. No candidate faced a primary election in August. Cope defeated John Pistone and Matt Maxwell at the Republican convention. Esty won re-election in the November 8 election.[2][3][4]
