The Judicial Update

March 31st, 2012[edit]

Omaha, Nebraska: Former United States Senator Bob Kerrey will be appearing on the Nebraska Democratic primary ballot in May due to a ruling by District Judge Steven Burns of Lancaster County.[1]

Judge Burns decision came the day after the legal challenge was filed by the Nebraska Republican Party to keep Bob Kerrey off of the ballot.[1]

Secretary of State John Gale believed that Bob Kerrey had violated the Nebraska state law that requires all state candidates to be residents of the county in which they are registered to vote, but reported that the United States Constitution only requires Senate candidates to be a resident of the state they serve by the time they have been elected.[1]
