Kari Cecilie Kristiansen is a superior court judge for the Third Judicial District in Alaska. She was appointed on November 17, 2006, by Gov. Frank Murkowski (R). Kristiansen was retained for a six-year term in 2010. She won another full term in the retention election on November 8, 2016.

Education[edit]

Judge Kristiansen attended Northwestern University to earn her Bachelor of Science in engineering in 1986 and Willamette University for her J.D. in 1989.[1][2]

Career[edit]

  • 2006-Present: Judge, Palmer Superior Court in the Third Judicial District
  • 1999-2006: She worked for the State of Alaska, Department of Law, specializing in construction, public housing law, contracts, tort defense,collections, and child in need of aid law.
  • 1997-1999: She worked for Guess & Rudd P.C. specializing in insurance defense, real estate and construction law, personal injury and nonprofit organizations.
  • 1989-1996: She worked in criminal law in the City and County of Honolulu, Department of the Prosecuting Attorney in Hawaii.
  • 1988: She was a Law Clerk for Krassa, Lindhom, Madsen and Kumli in Colorado.
  • 1987: She was a Law Clerk for the Bonneville Power Administration in Oregon.[2]

2010[edit]

Kristiansen was retained in 2010.[3] The Alaska Judicial Council supported her retention.[4][5] She is up for retention again in 2016.
