Leigh Martin May is federal judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Prior to joining the court, she was a partner at the law firm of Butler, Wooten & Fryhofer LLP. President Barack Obama nominated May to fill a vacancy on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia on December 19, 2013.[1] May received confirmation on November 13, 2014, when the United States Senate voted 99-0 in favor.[2]

May earned her B.S., with honors, from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1993 and her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1998.[1]

Leigh Martin May was nominated by President Barack Obama on December 19, 2013, to fill a vacancy on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. The vacancy was created when Beverly Martin was elevated to the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. On the nominations:

The American Bar Association rated May Unanimously Qualified.[4]
May's nomination was returned by the Senate on January 3, 2014, and she was renominated on January 6th by President Obama.[5] The Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing on the nomination of Leigh Martin May on May 13, 2014.[6] The committee reported May to the full Senate on June 19, 2014, on a voice vote.[7]
The United States Senate confirmed May on November 13, 2014, on a vote of 99-0.[2]
