A referendum to legalize abortions was held in the country of Liechtenstein on September 18, 2011.
The measure, referred to as the Help Instead of Punishment referendum, was designed to allow abortions within the first twelve weeks of pregnancy to be performed in the country of Liechtenstein. This measure was defeated by a vote of 52.3% to 47.7%. Prince Alois, Hereditary Prince of Liechtenstein, opposed the measure and said he would veto it if it were approved by voters.[1][2]
