Four seats on the Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township Board of Education were up for general election on November 4, 2014.[1] Four at-large incumbents, Michael D. Nance, Scott Edward Cline, Michael Morrow and Stanley E. Ellis, were up for re-election. They ran against challengers Brandon A. Bowman, Floyd Keith and Rochelle Olaleye.[2] Incumbents Michael Morrow and Michael D. Nance and challengers Brandon A. Bowman and Rochelle Olaleye won the four seats.
Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township is located in Marion County, Indiana. The county seat of Marion County is Hamilton. Marion County was home to 928,281 residents in 2013, according to the United States Census Bureau.[3] During the 2011-2012 school year, the Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township was the sixth-largest school district by enrollment in Indiana and served 16,276 students.[4]
Marion County outperformed the rest of Indiana in terms of higher education achievement in 2012. The United States Census Bureau found that 27.6 percent of Marion County residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree compared to 23.0 percent for Indiana as a whole. The median household income for Marion County was $42,603 compared to $48,374 for the entire state. The percentage of people below poverty level for Marion County was 19.4 percent compared to 14.7 percent statewide.[3]

The Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township Board of Education consists of seven members elected to four-year terms. There was no primary election, and the general election was held on November 4, 2014. Four seats were up for election in 2014.[1][6]
In order to get on the ballot, school board candidates had to file a petition of nomination with the Marion County Election Board during the nomination period, which began July 23, 2014, and ended August 22, 2014. Voters had to register by October 6, 2014, in order to vote in the election.[7]
