Michael James Vallejos was a judge of the Colorado 2nd Judicial District. He left office on July 30, 2022.

Vallejos ran for re-election for judge of the Colorado 2nd Judicial District. He won in the retention election on November 3, 2020.

Vallejos was appointed by Governor Bill Ritter to succeed J. Stephen Phillips, effective in December 2010.[1] He was later retained by voters in 2014, winning a six-year term that was set to expire on January 11, 2021. [2]

Education[edit]

Vallejos received his B.S. and B.A. degrees in 1984 from the University of Colorado and his J.D. from the University of Colorado in 1991.[1]

Career[edit]

Vallejos served in the Colorado State Public Defender's Office in Denver from 1991 until his appointment to the bench. Before that, he worked worked as an attorney in private practice.[1]

Vallejos was retained to the Second Judicial District with 73.4 percent of the vote on November 4, 2014. [3]
