Patrick Hynes is president of Hynes Communications, a digital media and online communications strategy firm for public affairs clients. Hynes founded his eponymous firm with Paul Young in 2006.[1] Hynes has consulted for Republican presidential candidates such as Orrin Hatch, John McCain, Tim Pawlenty and Mitt Romney.
In 1994, Patrick Hynes worked on the Republican Party of New Hampshire's State Senate election efforts.[2] In 1998, he served as political director for Republican gubernatorial candidate Jay Lucas' unsuccessful campaign for Governor of New Hampshire. He was political director for the New Hampshire GOP state committee in 1999, and also worked on the presidential campaign of U.S. Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) that same year.[2]
Hynes was an account services director for Calypso Communications from 2005 to 2007.[3] In 2006, he founded Hynes Communications with Paul Young.[1] Prior to Hynes Communciations, he was president of New Media Strategics, a political media consulting firm.[2][4] In July 2006, his book, In Defense of the Religious Right: Why Conservative Christians Are the Lifeblood of the Republican Party and Why That Terrifies the Democrats, was published by Thomas Nelson publishing.[2][5]
Hynes served as an online outreach consultant for Republican presidential nominee U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.). He did online communication outreach for First Freedom PAC, a political action committee for former Governor of Minnesota Tim Pawlenty (R), during Pawlenty's 2012 presidential campaign.[6] In 2012, he was named conservative online media outreach consultant for Mitt Romney's general election campaign for president.[6][7] Hynes was owner of the online New Hampshire Journal, NHJournal.com, until 2014.[8][9]
In 2014, Hynes ran Independent Leadership for New Hampshire PAC, a Super PAC tied to former U.S. Sen. Scott Brown's (R-Mass.) unsuccessful 2014 campaign against incumbent Jeanne Shaheen (D).[8] In 2015, he was named a New Hampshire consultant to former Governor of Florida Jeb Bush's 2016 presidential campaign.[5][10]
In 2013, Hynes was named to the list of Top 500 Influencers in American Politics by Campaigns & Elections Magazine.[11]
