James Elsasser is the superintendent of the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District. Elsasser was appointed superintendent on January 4, 2021. Elsasser's previous career experience includes working as the superintendent of the Claremont Unified School District and in executive roles with the Anaheim Elementary School District, Los Alamitos Unified School District, and Downey Unified School District.[1]

Past superintendents[edit]

  • Greg Plutko was the superintendent of the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District from 2016 to 2020.[2] Plutko's previous career experience included working as the superintendent of the Huntington Beach Union High School District, deputy superintendent of educational services of the Corona-Norco Unified School District, and a history teacher.[3]
  • Doug Domene was the superintendent of the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District from 2012 to 2016. Domene's previous career experience included working as the district's assistant superintendent of business services.[4]

Members of the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District school board are elected to four-year terms. Two or three seats are up for election on a staggered basis every even-numbered year in November.

A general election was scheduled for November 3, 2020.
