Political Action Committees Increase Donations to NJ Officials

TRENTON, New Jersey: New Jersey’s Election Law Enforcement Commission has found that most elected officials in New Jersey receive campaign funds from political action committees.^[1]There has been a particularly notable increase since 2006, when New Jersey introduced laws limiting donations from business contractors hoping to land government contracts.^[2]

The ELEC found that in 2011, incumbents received 89% of political action committee contributions.^[1]

In addition, they found the average Assembly campaign raises $255,000, a 42% increase over figures from 1999.^[1]
