One of the longest-serving judges to retire this past month, J. David Langford has left Florida's Tenth Circuit Court, where he has served for almost 27 years.

Langford began his career in 1975 as an assistant state attorney. He started his own private law practice in 1978, working there until he was elected to the Highlands County Court in 1986. He then joined the circuit court in 1989. Since then, he has handled every type of case and the Circuit Court has doubled its number of judges. He was the Chief Judge of the court from 2007 to 2011.^[1]

Langford may not be going far. He plans to eventually become a senior judge, who would serve on an as-needed basis. Until then, he plans to spend time with his family and work on his farm.^[2]
