The Auditor General of Rhode Island is an appointed position in the Rhode Island state government. The auditor performs audits of the state's departments and agencies, and reports to the Rhode Island General Assembly.
The acting Rhode Island Auditor General is David Bergantino (nonpartisan). Bergantino assumed office in 2023.
The office of the auditor general was created in 1974 by the Rhode Island General Assembly. Audits are conducted as required by statute or as directed by the Joint Committee on Legislative Services.[1]
