Samuel Kwong was a candidate for the District 1 on the Board of Supervisors of San Francisco in California. Kwong was defeated in the general election on November 8, 2016.

Although elections for the San Francisco Board of Supervisors are officially nonpartisan, Kwong is known to be affiliated with the Democratic Party.[1] He ran unsuccessfully for the San Francisco Democratic Party County Central Committee on June 7, 2016, winning 2 percent of the vote and placing 21st of 21 candidates.[2]

Kwong has studied at the City College of San Francisco and holds a B.A. in environmental design from the University of California, Berkeley.[1]

As of his 2016 run for the board of supervisors, Kwong owned his own architecture firm, ARCUS Architecture & Planning. He has also served on the board of directors of the Soo Yuen Benevolent Association and as president of the Chinese American Democratic Club, the Chinatown Portsmouth Square Garage, and the Asian American Architects and Engineers Association.[1]
