November 2008 Sevier County ballot initiative may be last of its kind in Utah[edit]

The Salt Lake Tribune writes, "The members of the Right to Vote Committee in Sevier County are scrambling to gather signatures and initiate a referendum that would let voters decide if a coal-fired power plant should be built in the scenic Sevier Valley. It's an historic endeavor, but not because it's the first time that Utahns have demanded a direct say in how their communities will be developed. It's historic because it may well be the last."
