Four of the eight seats on the Bulloch County Board of Education were up for general election on May 24, 2016. There was no primary. District 3 challenger Stuart Tedders and District 8 incumbent Maurice Hill won without opposition. District 1 incumbent Cheri Wagner defeated challengers H. Lee Jones and Shalah Hendrix. Heather Mims defeated Josh Mattos in the race to replace Mike Herndon in District 7.[1]

Bulloch County Schools is located in Bulloch County, Georgia. The county seat of Bulloch County is Statesboro. Bulloch County was home to 72,651 residents in 2015, according to the United States Census Bureau.[2] The district was the 39th-largest school district in the state in the 2013–2014 school year and served 9,991 students.[3]

The median household income in Bulloch County was $35,642, compared to $53,482 for the state of Georgia. The poverty rate in Bulloch County was 31.4 percent, compared to 14.8 percent for the entire state.[2]
