A state assembly or state house of representatives is the lower deliberative body in states with a bicameral legislature. A state assembly normally has more members — usually two to three times as many members — as a state senate.
A state assembly person or state representative is a member of a state's Assembly or House. In 1963, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that state legislatures must apportion seats in both houses according to population.
