Tennessee November amendment sees little campaigning

NASHVILLE, Tennessee: The Tennessee Hunting Rights Amendment will appear on the November 2, 2010 ballot for residents to vote on. Though the campaigning for candidates in the primary election was hotly debated and is expected to be just as fierce for the November election, no campaigning has been put forward in regards to the proposed amendment to the state constitution. The proposed amendment would have a significant effect on all Tennesseans, it seeks to regulate and limit hunting and fishing within the state. The Tennessee Wildlife Federation has noted that around 30,000 jobs are generated by the hunting and fishing industry in the state with around $2.4 billion being generated in revenues. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency also sees some of the funds, so if the money is reduced the natural habitats could suffer. So while not very much information is going out to residents about the measure, it could potentially have as much an impact as any of the candidate races.^[1]
