The Washington Tax on Fossil Fuels Measure, Initiative 1397 was not on the November 3, 2015 ballot in the state of Washington as an Initiative to the People. If approved by voters, the measure would have done the following:^[1]

Reduced the state sales tax and the business and occupation tax on manufacturing
Enhanced the working families sales tax exemption for low-income persons
Implemented a carbon pollution tax on fossil fuels sold or used in the state and on the consumption or generation of electricity generated by fossil fuels

Supporters were required to collect at least 246,372 valid signatures by July 2, 2015, in order to land the initiative on the ballot.
