This measure sought to create an independent salary commission in the county in order to fix the salary compensation given to county elected officials.[2] Currently the County Council set the salaries for elected officials, county officials believe an independent commission would be more transparent to residents. Since this was approved, the commission will consist of ten members, six will be randomly selected from county residents who are registered to vote and will be able to decide to serve or not. The other four members will be nominated by County Executive and will then need approval by the council.[3]
