For 25 years, Will has been an engaged parent in Academy School District 20. As a Leader or active participant on the following Committees and Councils, he has gained vast in-depth knowledge about the issues, challenges and trends affecting our parents, students, teachers and the administration. o Parent Chair, District Accountability Committee (DAC), 2018-Present  -DAC Member, 2014-Present  -Budget Sub-Committee, 2015-2018  -DAC Accreditation Sub-Committee, 2018-Present o Co-Chair, Yes for 3A Citizens Committee, D20 Bond Campaign, 2016 o Growth and Capital Needs Committee, 2015-2016 o Superintendent's Communication Council, 2018-Present o Certified Performance Evaluation Council, 2018-2019 o Rampart High School, School Accountability Committee, 2017-Present o Mountain Ridge Middle School, School Accountability Committee, 2014-2017

As an involved parent of five children who have either graduated from or currently attend D20 schools, Will believes in order to accomplish that goal the following issues should continue to be a priority: o Student Achievement o Safety and Security o Student Emotional and Social Health o Listening and Advocating for Stakeholders (Parents, Educators and Students) o Faculty Recruitment and Retention o Sound Fiscal Management

Will has spent more than 30 years leading both corporate and non-profit organizations and serving on boards at the national, state and local levels. He fully understands the role of boards and believes in giving back to the community.

o Managing Partner/Owner, Apprentice Personnel, 2011-Present o President and Chief Executive Officer, Greater Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce, 2000-2007 o Associate Vice President of Special Projects, University of Colorado Foundation, 2007-2009 o Consultant, National Institute of Space, Science and Security Centers, University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, 2009 o Chair, National Homeland Defense Foundation Board of Directors

  • Will believes there is nothing more important than educating and giving all students the opportunity to become thoughtful, inquisitive and productive citizens who model respect and civility to others.
  • I am fiscally conservative and a supporter of local control.
  • Setting policy for and listening to nearly 27,000 students, 50,000 parents and 3,000 plus educators and administrators is a significant responsibility and vital to the future of our high-performing district. It takes experience.

I look up to the Founding Fathers of this country. What they wrote and put in place starting with the Declaration of Independence and then the United States Constitution 11 years later is incredible. The fact that his country continues to use their framework and has had a peaceful transition of power for 232 is something that we Americans take for granted.

High character and unquestioned ethics. Represents constituents and not themselves. Transparency and honesty versus making hollow promises.

A director on the Board of Education must have district-wide knowledge and have had children in the district at the K-5, middle school and high school level. I have organizational and board leadership experience over the past 25 years. Overseeing a $250 million district budget requires experience with multi-million dollar budgets. I am the only candidate with the aforementioned experience.

Too many books to narrow down! However, I have enjoyed reading "Team of Rivals" about Lincoln's cabinet during the Civil War, "Sapiens" and "Good to Great".

Setting policy for and listening to nearly 27,000 students, 50,000 parents and 3,000 plus educators and administrators in the largest school district in the Pikes Peak region.

Primarily, the parents and families of the district's students.

I have been a parent in D20 for 25 years and have four graduates and a junior in high school. To be a genuine voice for the over 50,000 parents in D20, it sure helps to have personal experience of kids having gone through K-5, middle school and high school-and those experiences--academically, socially and developmentally are very different. I will always welcome parent feedback.
