Wisconsin AG receives endorsement of 61 sheriffs and 50 DAs

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin: On Monday, April 26, 2010, the exact same day he launched his re-election campaign, Republican Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced that he had received the bi-partisan support of sixty-one sheriffs and fifty district attorneys from across the state.^[1] Standing alongside Van Hollen in front of the Milwaukee Police Association (MPA) headquarters, MPA President Mike Crivello lavished praise on the state's top law enforcer, describing him as an individual who "understands the challenges that police officers face every day and he has been a leader in promoting law enforcement and public safety."^[2]

Though there is still a decent amount of time before the signature deadline in Wisconsin lapses on July 13, it is unlikely Van Hollen will be challenged in the state's September 14 primary. If nothing changes, he will face Democrat challenger Scott Hassett, former head of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, in November.^[3]
