The Baltimore Orioles are a Major League Baseball team based in Baltimore, Maryland. The team was founded in 1901 as the Milwaukee Brewers and were one of the inaugural teams in the American League. [1] [2] [3]

Championships[edit]

The team has had a total of 3 championship-winning seasons in the modern era (1901 and later) of major-league baseball, winning the World Series in 1966, 1970, and 1983. They were also American League champions, but lost in the World Series, 4 times, in 1944, 1969, 1971, and 1979. [4]

Locations and Nicknames[edit]

Since the team's inception in 1901, they have been based in 3 different cities or metropolitan areas: Milwaukee (1901 only), St. Louis (1902-1953), and Baltimore (1954-present). They have played their home games at the following stadiums. [5] [6] [7]

  • 1954-1991: Memorial Stadium [9]
  • 1992-present: Oriole Park at Camden Yards [10]
