Hard target penetrators are military devices that penetrate earth, concrete, or rock to disrupt underground structures or to produce specialized effects caused by shock or cavity formation underneath surface structures. They have similarities to anti-tank weapons in that they have to pierce hard material, but differ in that they must travel considerable distances. Weapons design[edit]The most basic requisites for such a weapon is a casing, especially the nose, hard enough to withstand the impact and penetration, and enough speed to provide the energy for penetration. |
