In medicine and radiology, health physics is an interdisciplinary field concerned with therapeutic and non-therapeutic patient exposure to ionizing radiation. A health physicist, for example, will work with a radiologist to plan the mechanics of multibeam or fractionated radiation therapy. Health physicists also are experts in measuring the exposure of persons near an accidental or hostile radiation release.
