A private academic and research center, the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya (IDC) calls its first goal as training "the future leaders of the State of Israel, to nurture a financial, political, technological, and legal leadership of the highest caliber. The Interdisciplinary Center's innovative approach is considerably different from that of other academic institutions in Israel in that it involves integrating disciplines and great responsibility to society. "[1] It does not receive budgeted government funds, but is considered a top-level institution in governmental and politicomilitary affairs, especially its Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy.

Faculty and visiting scholars come from a wide ideological range, from feminist peace activist Galia Golan to its conservative contributor founder, Ronald Lauder.

Partnerships include the International Center for the Study of Radicalisation.
